FTP detection 28 day countdown to the hour is ridiculous

If you think your FTP must be updated frequently to get the appropriate workout, you havent really looked at the workout catalogue

Even if it was automatic, the 28 day timer would still start after you accept the detection, would it not? Furthermore, as you and others have pointed out, timer counts down to what appears to be midnight… that is when mine is as well. I am currently at 2 days, 3 hours and 47m (it is currently 8:13pm et as I type this). I suspect the system is set to trigger at midnight on day 28… (speculation on my part).

However, I would be more concerned about this statement from one of your first posts…

This is the WHY I’d be asking, to be fair. Waiting until 9am vs 11pm won’t change THIS.

Have you been failing/not completing workouts? Skipping them? Rating them “all out”? Riding outside and not hitting power numbers needed to keep FTP progressing vs. regressing? These are about the only things that have EVER made my FTP drop.

Personally, I would focus my efforts on getting this question answered!

Wallow in your sarcasm all you want, then take a look at how many workouts there are for each zone. VO2 max level 4 not hard enough? Do a 6 next time with the same FTP. You’ll figure it out if you’re really interested. Otherwise keep dwelling on those lost seconds without an FTP update that are costing you so much

Ok, off the trainer now … I tried to find the answer to whether the 28-day clock runs month after month, 28 days each time, regardless of whether you view your FTP or not. I have to think the answer is “yes” simply because “no” would seem to make no sense. However, I was not able to find the answer. :grimacing:

This is a really odd thread right now.

… and just when I was about to suggest it posted on the Unpopular Cycling Opinions thread just to see where it goes.

I can understand the frustration of seeing your purportedly FTP drop, while at the same time seeing race evidence that it did. That would drive me a bit over the top too.
