Feasibility: Maurten in a hydration pack?

So maybe you didn’t catch what I said in my earlier post, but I am not “too lazy” to rinse and dry it. I rinse it after every use, but when I am using it almost every day, the bladder doesn’t have time to dry out-thus the freezer strategy. I also said hanging it to dry works, so I am not questioning your post, I agree with it.
Frankly you seem to have been triggered by something I posted, and you went to calling me lazy pretty quickly. I was simply trying to help the person who asked about it by offering another strategy for avoiding mold. Your aggressive post in response to my first suggestion and then calling me lazy after I tried to clarify doesn’t seem like the spirit of this message board, but maybe I am just new around here. Either way, I am done with this thread so feel free to have the last word.

Speaking of getting triggered - relax a little and take a look at your own tone. I’m disagreeing with the advice you’re giving, that’s it. I’d advise people not to go that route, unless it’s a short term here and there thing. I don’t know a thing about you otherwise, so take a deep breath…

With that said - freezers don’t kill bacteria, some molds can still grow over time, and stuff still spoils. While this type of bacteria and mold is probably fine short term and I think does go dormant, you still need to make sure you’re getting stuff out, appropriately cleaned, and dried out from time to time. If you don’t, it thaws out and you’re still dealign with what you put in there as it reactivates and comes back to life and begins to grow again as you give it more sugar.

Most important At this point, I firmly believe everyone should be using one of the bladders that turns fully inside out and the bite valves that come apart. You can both throw the inside-out bladder in the dishwasher along with the disassembled bite valve, and that makes it much easier to dry too. The newer ones from Hydrapak make it that easy, I’d be trashing my old ones. The only part you have to be a little careful of is the inside of the hose and some of the interior parts of the bite valve - that gets a very hot water flush every time, and then “spun” dry. Even so - never had an issue with either.

YMMV, but never once had mold or any issue, and no issue getting stuff dried out overnight for the next morning and this only takes 5 minutes after your ride.
