Goal is to finish the inaugural IM in my hometown. I wouldn’t worry about the time, I just want to cross the line
I used plan builder and start the Low Volume, Full Distance Base plan this week.
I haven’t been training consistently this year, so this is a worry to me too. I think I’m going to heed @JoeX advice and train till Christmas. If I’m stll feeling okay and managing the workouts without missing them or getting injured, I’ll have a serious conversation about if I can finish or not.
Giving it a try with the training is probably your best option now.
If you survive the specialty phase, you will know that you‘ll be able to finish successfully.
Maybe you‘ll need to sneak in a recovery week here and there, since there is no real 3:1 structure.
If the load is too high, reduce the intensity (you will need mainly endurance for your goal) but keep up the volume.
