Favero Assioma powermatch

Hey folks,

Recently upgraded from a single sided pm to Favero asssioma duo power meter. I can’t seem to get the power as smooth as it was before, I know it’s the nature of powermatch but it feels like the power is fluctuating a fair bit whilst riding and I find my power drifting way above interval levels regularly.

What settings have people found works, ideally specifically with The Favero Pedals? I have A Kickr Core turbo trainer linked to it.

I can’t offer any help but I’ve noticed powermatch doesnt work as accurately as it used to. Sometimes the power can creep up 20, 30, 40w higher and I’ve found the solution is either to close the workout and reopen it, or sometimes I can reduce my cadence right down, which brings my power down, and then powermatch seems to “lock in” on the correct power again, so that I can bring my cadence back up again. It’s very annoying.

I’m also on a kickr core, using the android app, but using a quarq power meter

That screenshot doesn’t look too bad to me - it doesn’t appear to be drifting away from the target wattage?

There is that one drop out on the third interval but not sure that’s to do with power match.

Are you tracking the left/right power at all on the DUOs? Just in case one is drifting?

Yeah it’s not horrendous, at times a 287 watt interval was drifting to about 300-315 for example.

Maybe that’s acceptable? It’s just not as smooth as my previous pm.

Left right balance was 50/50 in that ride and seems consistently fairly even.

By its very nature, single sided power will smooth out the power reading compared to dual sided. Single sided can only read power on the downstroke of one side, double it and hold that reading until the next full pedal stroke. Dual sided can determine power twice per pedal stroke, so it will have twice the sample rate. (I know it’s actually sampling many times per revolution, but still it has to boil each pedal stroke down to a single power number).

There’s also different ways per meter manufacturers choose to smooth out the power info communicated by the meter. You are never getting the raw noisy power calc. So even comparing dual to dual or single to single has differences.


@tommyexmoor, everything looks fine to me. I recently got the Duos and also have a Kickr Core.

By default, the Kickr has its own power smoothing enabled so it typically has the smoothest power output of any of the equivalent trainers (e.g. Neo 2/2T, H2/H3, etc). You can disable it via the Wahoo app (more on why I did this below). Note that enabling / disabling the Kickr’s power smoothing does not change its behavior in erg or any of the modes (standard and resistant being the other two), it only smooths the broadcasted power.

When I first installed the Duos I wanted to ensure they were tracking to the Kickr. I dual recorded an activity on my head unit and used ZwiftPower’s free comparison tool. You need a ZwiftPower account but do not need to subscribe to Zwift. ZwiftPower.com --> Profile --> Analysis. One of my first comparisons is here.

I then turned off power smoothing on the Kickr via the Wahoo app. Pictures before and after are here, and look similar to yours.

After turning off the Kickr’s power smoothing the Duos track even closer to the Kickr. Although this morning’s workout was a total dumpster fire, the Duos and Kickr tracked nearly identically.

TLDR: You’re good to go!

I tried this, but couldn’t get access to the tool. It turns out that you need to do more than make a ZwiftPower account. You also have to go ahead and link it to a Zwift account and accept the ZP terms. Only then can you get access to the Zwift Power analysis tools.

Also, for some reason I couldn’t successfully upload files in Safari, but it worked in Chrome.

Anyways, thanks for pointing out this tool. It was something I was looking for.
