Event data entry

For event entry ,my time and effort seem like the hard way. One how do i really know what my training status will be 6-9 months aways which affect time. If TR makes me 25% faster well great that 4 hour event is 3 hours. Plus I may never have done said event before BUT distance, surface type and elevation total is usually known if not the entire GPX file which could be used to target the course needs. ie 3 sustained climbs vs 40 rollers are not an equal 2500 feet of climbing.

Hey @Hamster_Wheelin, welcome to the forum.

Good question.

I wouldn’t stress too much about the small details of your event. Enter in your best guess, and if you feel that it’s changed at any point, feel free to update it.

What’s most important when it comes to training is how much time you have to train each week, the time between now and your event, and the overall discipline of your event.

Using a GPX file is, in my opinion, far too granular for designing a training plan. It also doesn’t tell the story of how you’re going to ride the course.

The data you enter with your event helps us estimate some placeholder data, but ultimately, it’s the things I listed above that make the biggest difference in the design of your training plan.

40 rollers sounds like a rolling road race to me, and 3 sustained climbs sounds like a climbing road race, or gran fondo. The discipline of the event that you select will dictate the type of training we prescribe.

Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions. :slightly_smiling_face:
