Elitewheels vs ICAN vs Yoelo

I see you already made your purchase, so I’m a little late, but have you looked into Light Bicycle? It’s hard to find wheels that compete with them on price/quality/weight (at least in my experience). If you can wait until Black Friday, they always have wheelsets 10% off too. Last year during the BF sale, I got the WR45 wheelset with DT Swiss 240EXP for $1074 shipped to my door. They weigh 1440g. And you can knock a couple hundred bucks off that price if you get a cheaper hub, and go lighter for not much more as well. I’ve been super happy with the wheels.

Edit: I see the ICAN option you went with was quite a bit cheaper. I didn’t realize they were in that price range.

I would say the they are not that cheap once you factor in the price in CAD as they become a lot less competitive. Perhaps in USD it’s not to bad.

Hi all,

quick follow-up, I decided to give the ICAN Aero 50 Plus a go. If anyone is curious here are my thoughts. First the box was in excellent shape and the wheels were well protected with foam bad plus the entire insert to keep the wheels in place was also foam so a good start.

So the build quality looked very good, spoke tension was even and the bearing and pawls were all properly greased with light grease. The wheels were true both laterally and horizontally.

The 23mm inner width and almost 31mm outer fitted with my GP 5000 in 28C makes for a very smooth transition between tires and rims. So the setup should be decently aero.

The wheels are surprisingly very stable in crosswind and quite predictable. The hubs are also very smooth rolling. The wheels are actually not too harsh and quite compliant. They are also quite stiff laterally.

My only negative is that the 6 pawls freehub design seems fairly draggy when spinning the wheels on the bike stand but on the road it seems ok. I also don’t like that you need to unscrew the endcap to remove the endcap and freehub. Overall hub/bearing are most likely average but to be expected at that price point. The rims looked extremely well made with a modern inner/outer width. The CX-Rays spoke are also very nice for the price and easy to replace as they are readily available. I also like that the alloy nipple are external and the the holes in the rims makes changing spokes easy.

For the price, they are an excellent choice and customer service and shipping were very smooth. Definitely recommend.

I’m pretty late to the original post here, but for anyone else, I have two sets of Yoeleo wheels. One are SAT DB C35 on my gravel bike, and they have 9000km use with no issues and they’ve been through some awful conditions and rough rides.
The other are 38s on my road bike (probably should have gone deeper) but they’ve only gone about 1500km so far.

I haven’t owned any of the other brands mentioned so I can’t compare, but the wheels are just fine.
