I recently got a firmware update to my Elite Justo trainer, but now there seems to be an issue when i use it with Trainerroad. Whenever I pause in the middle of an ERG workout, when starting up, the resistance is really high and stays that way for 10-30 seconds. Has anyone encountered this issue?
I thought there’s a way to set the trainer to Easy Start mode, but I don’t see any settings for that.
The Elite Suito is bad for that or even when I dont pause and just have an off interval (the next on interval starts with a stupidly high resistance). With it I prefer to do workouts in non ERG mode.
I took a look at your ride log data, and it looks like you had a connectivity interruption via ANT+ connection.
You also have 2 other devices that could be interfering with your Elite. They are listed as JUSTO and RIZER.
Next time you hop on the trainer, let’s try only enabling the ANT+ or BLE on the TR app so there is no interference. And if possible, it may be best to connect your Elite with a Bluetooth connection as it’s more stable.
Thank you for looking into this for me. I did try using only bluetooth and the same issues persist. I’m in contact with Elite support, but they have horrible support. I even provided a video with a independent cadence sensor affixed on my shoe with a garmin computer so they can see when I start to pedal and how long it takes TR to register. During all that time that TR doesn’t display the cadence the trainer resistance is 2-3X harder to pedal. I sent them the TR fit file as well.
I have contacted Elite and i feel they don’t seem to care to aggressively deal with this issue. The other thing I discovered is that this issue not only shows up in Trainerroad but also Zwift. So, something definitely happened. I’m also hoping that TR can take advantage of what Elite calls Easy Start–I feature that supposed to mitigate this problem.
When I test this on the Elite MyTraining App, the issue never happens, so it is possible that TR and Zwift need to address some changes to accommodate the Justo trainer.
I attempted a small workout last night. I hope you can review this and look at the telemetry, especially right at the very beginning where i start the workout and the very last spike at the end of the workout: Log In to TrainerRoad
This same problem occurs in Zwift as well–after pausing, pedaling resistance is 2x-4x harder making it impossible for rehab.
Would you mind also submitting a support ticket with Elite? They seem to be dragging their feet to resolving this. The support form is here: Elite Support

Has Trainerroad contacted Elite about this issue? I’m not the only one seeing this. Would you mind also submitting a support ticket with Elite? Or calling them directly? The support form is here: Elite Support
Hey @bikedawg, sorry for the late reply here. I was already off for the weekend.
Would you mind submitting a support ticket to support@trainerroad.com (Attn: Carolina) with the video you sent Elite? All the information we can get can help us dig deeper into the issue with the devs.
Not sure if I’m having the same issue, but once last week or earlier this week I think it happened one time where I had a super hard start, way way harder than ever before after a pause. My usual trick of just get the flywheel going a tiny bit, back off for 1-2 seconds and then get at it worked like it does for any other time it was a little too hard to pedal. This time was much harder than I had ever experienced.
I had 3? pauses on my workout this morning and had no issues so not sure if same problem or fluke.
I have a Suito and I did a firmware update sometime this summer but not sure when exactly.
Yes, sounds like the same issue. I had tried your technique, among others to get it work work again and nothing i tried worked. Sometimes the resistance will even increase even more as you spin faster after a pause–and up to a minute. It because unusable because I’m rehabbing from an injury. Please contact Elite and submit a ticket with TR so they know this is not a one-off case.
