I bought a Sprint, but unfortunately the thru-axle dropouts on my fork were too bulbous for their adapter, so I couldn’t put it on the stand. Interferance between the adapter and fork.Luckily, my bike has a round post, so I moved to a Feedback Ultralight and I’ve been very happy with it.
I just got the Feedback Sports Sprint stand and it’s awesome. It was recently on sale on amazon for about 30% off, worth taking a look to see if it’s still available!
I got mine from Aldi for $25. Does the job that I need it to.
Honestly the more I think about it the more I think all I have to do is move the pad where the bottom bracket sits on and that might just do it.
I think it really depends on priorities (bike storage vs. bike maintenance) and frequency/type of maintenance. While I really like the feedback sprint stand design for repairs and maintenance, the need to take the front wheel off is a show stopper for how I use a stand most of the time. I’ve got a traditional Park stand that is a permanent fixture in the garage and my main bike (depending on season) is always hanging on it (just the nose of the saddle). That works for me for daily/weekly maintenance (pump up tires and swap chains). For repairs and bigger maintenance jobs, I’ll clamp the bike in, but that’s infrequent. Since I use the stand 95% of the time for storage and light maintenance, a traditional clamp style stand is my preference (and I don’t often use the clamp). If I wanted a stand primarily for wrenching, I think the sprint stand has a lot of advantages.
Another one from Aldi here. Have 3 of them. I think I paid as little $15 for one of them and no more than $25
Gotta love Aldi
I have a Feedback Sports that I hardly use but it’s awesome for serious work. I’ve also always had one of these cheap stands. It’s great for storing your bike or doing quick adjustments. Does anyone know if they make something like this for a thru-axle?
This is pretty similar. It is good enough to hold the bike upright while washing, doing chain maintenance etc., but for anything else you would need a better stand.
I use a Park Tool 10.3. I dont have carbon bikes so I just crush the shit out of my top tubes
Feedback Sports Pro Elite. Had it for about 8 years now. Used for wrenching, although there are times when the bike gets left in it for days at a time.
I’ve dedicated space, so I have bench mounted one. Don’t do much of my own fettling on my carbon bike to be honest.
I’ve got a Park PRS-3.3, PRS-22, and a Feedback Sport stand that is similar to the Pro Mechanic Repair Stand, and an early 90’s vintage Blackburn.
The Feedback stand is the best and used more often. (I think mine is the Pro Elite) Their bags aren’t the most durable, but what would survive being pinched between chunks of metal and a solid surface. I use the 22 for cleaning with a Muc-off pressure washer and brushes. The 3.3 is the main home based stand for sure. I often travel with the Feedback. Easy to setup/takedown, light, sharp looking, love the head and the push button. (The Blackburn is my first ever repair stand. Very simple elegant design, but it’s pretty short and likes to tip over backwards, but still a really good first stand, that isn’t available any longer)
I still have my first-gen Ultimate work stand (the precursor brand / company to Feedback Sports). Bought it in Moab in '94, IIRC. Still going strong, except for the tool box, which lost the top a number of years ago.
But the stand itself is still rock solid.
Yeah, I had the Trek branded version circa 1997. Finally sold it this year after getting the Feedback Pro HD as an upgrade. The old one still worked well but the clamp closing action would sometimes not “bite” without a bit of a push on the clamp to get it started. Totally reliable other than that one thing and served well beyond the $ I spent way back when.
Another $25 Aldi bike stand owner here. Bought it about 4 years ago but I haven’t seen it on sale at the local Aldis since, although they’ve had other bike accessories in the meantime.
The stand works great for my purposes but admittedly I only use it about 5-10 times per year. Most of the maintenance is done with my bike on a Kurt Kinetic trainer.
All we have in the US is Aldi supermarkets and they definitely don’t carry bike parts! This one that you find rebranded everywhere looks exactly like it in case anyone was looking.
I’m in the US and got mine at Aldi. I’m pretty sure they have them once a year, probably around March.
