Went to buy the Epix Gen 2 and they have already changed the price back.
Today and tomorrow (oct 8-9) 7mesh is giving an additional 20% off items that are on sale. With the cooler weather coming, I can vouch for the Seton Jacket and the Synergy Jersey. They are both awesome in cooler to colder weather. Read the reviews. Both of these have all sizes available on sale. Their other stuff is great also. Advanced Bike Apparel for Every Elevation | 7mesh
20% off OrNot, today only. Great stuff, can vouch for the ultralight shorts/pants being great on and off the bike.
I’m a huge fan of the MicroClimate jacket. I wear it on those days when it starts at 40 and ends at 75F and I’m never too cold or too hot. Super stretchy and it folds down small enough to fit in your jersey pocket (tightly) if you have to.
I think this was posted before but just posting again since its an insane deal. Almost 50% off is crazy and $4,000 for Ultegra Di2 is borderline insane. If I didn’t have a Crux already I would be pulling trigger on this…
Saris H3 is down to $349. It’s been low briefly in the past but pretty outstanding value for what is still a really good ERG mode trainer.
I’d thought Saris was an old Elite model, now I’m wondering why TR thinks my rides are recorded on a Saris,
Fizik Terra Atlas MTB Shoe [TEX5BPR1K6110-450]
Pulled the trigger on a pair of these, seemed deal worthy to have a decent shoe for sale under $100.
Almost pulled the trigger, except for one thing: these do run pretty narrow, don’t they?
There is a whole thread on whether Fiziks run narrow. Most thought they do, some said they don’t. In my experience they do. But I stretched mine at the “bad spot” using a shoe shaper insert and duct taping a lump on the spot where I needed more room. Worked great. I’d buy them again.
Narrow-ish maybe? I wear a 14D in sneakers and 48/49 depending on cycling shoe brand FWIW.
I love the prior version, the Terra X5. I received the Terra Atlas as a warranty replacement for the prior version and they felt really tight at first but loosened a bit over time. I found a great deal on new old stock Terra X5’s a month ago so bought those and they felt tighter out of the box vs my old ones. This is a round about way of saying the Terra X5 and Atlas shoes may be tight out of the box but can stretch nicely over time. They’re as comfy as sneakers for me after a few months of breaking in.
The Terra Atlas are more flexible then the older X5 though. Nice for gravel rides with some hike-a-bike.
I use to sell fizik exclusively and they tend to be a normal width but have a low instep. 99% of people have no idea what their foot is and they think they can fit into a regular shoe they go with wide because they can fit instep easier. I’ve had so many people guarantee they have a wide foot but barrack device doesnt lie.
Can be a real eye opener, as can a ski boot fitting.
I read a few of the reviews and that wasn’t mentioned. I think I have an average foot width - but it’s always a bit of a gamble when buying shoes online. Still, it’s a good enough deal to find out and deal with returning them if needed.
Funny enough this weekend I was ski booting fitting and the guy next to me 100% bought the wrong boots. He insisted his foot was a full size larger then it was.
My experience is that while they are a bit narrow, the larger issue is the shape and position of the instep. I tried a fizik wide fit shoe and it still didn’t work for me. Meanwhile I fit a normal width in shimano and Specialized S-Works Recon.
There are many shoes (fizik included) that I expect to love but fit poorly.
Oh, I should mention that I have an older pair of Fizik Arctica R5’s which I love BUT I notice they don’t fit me as well as my newer shoes. Getting a good fitting shoe has been a process for me.
Fizik have always been too narrow for me. I’ve finally settled on non-s-work recons for gravel and mtb. I think their wider toe box is what has made the difference for me
Arctica is actually sized different then every other fizik shoe. Its purposely sized really big to fit thick socks but even with thick socks you need to size down. Its really poorly communicated that difference
I sold boots for about 7 years. Nearly everyone wants a boot 1-2 sizes too big.
