Is anyone else getting brassed off with the constant Zwift advertising, particularly on YouTube. Everywhere I go on the web it’s just bl**dy Zwift. Even if I subscribed to it I’d still probably be bombarded with it. Grump over !

I expect it will only increase especially since the VC involvement. Both Zwift and sufferfest are working with GCN to understand and improve their marketing reach.

Click around sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, do Google search on some electronics and browse some articles. You will get new types of ads

This is what happens when you get an infusion of capital. I would say, on behalf of Zwift, that they are reaching their intended audience because anyone on this forum is a good candidate for their service.
I’m personally not annoyed by ads…it’s a small tax to pay for all the free content we have at our disposal in this day and age.

I’m generally not annoyed either. Like you I accept that it’s the price we pay for a free service. It’s just Every time I click on a YouTube video about cycling I get the SAME Zwift ad. It’s put me right off it.

Their CEO recently noted that they are not currently profitable, and pointed to their customer acquisition costs (i.e. marketing/advertising) as to a big reason why. They realize that their platform needs scale to prevent anyone else coming into the “virtual cycling” space (which overlaps some, in my view, with the cycling training space, but not entirely) and they are spending to make sure that it doesn’t happen. Very strong network effects they’re trying to grab here - so don’t expect the advertising bombardment to fall off anytime soon.

I see gobs of Zwift ads on YT, but even more TR ads on FB. I just keep clicking on it and checking “already purchased”. They keep coming back, I’m sure in large part due to the time I spend on here.

I never see any ads on youtube. Are there ads on youtube? That sucks.

If you are seeing ads anywhere on the web, and especially YT you’re using the internet wrong. Use uBlock, NoScript, and other tools, that alone will remove the ads. If you don’t want to be tracked on YT use www.invidio.us, all the same content, no ads, no age/geo blocks.

I think the more insidious marketing I have seen is people replacing ‘indoor training’ with ‘zwifting’.
Well, thats’s no different than Kleenex becoming synonymous with facial tissue. Leaders in a field that do good branding and become popular begin to define the genre.
