Hmm. That doesn’t sound like it’ll work for me then.
Oh well, too late now. Have ordered a big bag!

My friends who have done the Tour Divide said they NEVER had a problem getting enough calories from gas stations in the US. ![]()
You’ll have to let us know. I don’t have that problem with fish.
Did you try eating the drink powder on the bike? I would think it is so impractical as to be prohibitive.
When I first started doing rando they coached me up about what tended to be the highest calorie/cent in a typical convenience store that wasn’t just a jug of oil. Those little mini-pecan pies were the winner.
Tried cola bottles earlier, far too chewy (at least this particular brand). Ended up needing to suck the life out of them which inhibited my breathing pretty badly.
I’ve gone to 100g of table sugar in the bottle with 1/2 teaspoon sodium citrate and shoot for one bottle plus some extra water per hour. For me it really is that simple.

They are eventually perishable but you usually get 10-12 months but I like to carry Nakd Raw Fruit & Nut Bars. They are only 35g but packed with fruit and fit nicely in my pocket. Although they don’t stay there long they are moorish ![]()
A jar of marmalade and a loaf of sliced white bread. If it’s good enough for Graeme Obree…
One of those squeezable bottles of jelly would be pretty cheap.
So I tried both Swedish Fish and the UK alternative “Freaky Fish”.
Swedish Fish are so much better, just a shame that they’re comically expensive per 100g vs my usual sweets (4x the price per gram of carbs!).
That’s too bad. They’re in every grocery in the US. I’m sure it’s the allure of fancy “Swedish” treats! ![]()
I’ll have to treat myself next time I’m at an event in the US. They’re the perfect size to throw in a top tube “fuel cell” bag too. ![]()
Those are like crack.
Old Severn bridge? Rode across there yesterday!
It sure was a busy route at the weekend!
