not exactly. it is banned in-competition, not out of competition, so as long as you are not using basically right before the race you will be fine.
It doesnāt leave the blood stream that quickly is my point and the testing is not exact.
The testing confirms a level of thc in the blood over a threshold. You can consume and 30 days later be over that threshold.
Thc levels are too broad a brush stroke for in/out competition IMO
With regards to strictly CBD, Iāve been thinking a lot lately about maybe adding it as a supplement. Iām finding sleep to be a bit of a limiting factor in my recovery. Iām wondering if CBD supplementation before bed might help with better quality sleep. As well as with generally faster/better recovery from workouts.
Thoughts anyone?

Purely anecdotal, but I know some people who do feel that CBD is helpful for sleep. Much of it stems from the general feeling of stress reduction that seems to be the greater overall benefit that they noticed.
Note: This is highly subjective, and will likely vary a BUNCH based on the individual and the particular dosage of the CBD.
I found this podcast with Floyd Landis to be very informative. In particular, the explanation of the difference between CBD Isolate vs. full spectrum CBD.
This is not true. The byproducts of metabolizing THC will continue to trigger certain urine tests. Blood tests will be negative after 24 hours.
Blood = Quick, Pee = Long ? I never knew
Taylor Phinney who?
Interesting. How do you consume it?
Vape, edibles, cream, pills, tincture
Just as a side note: there have been people who tested positive on a UA who vehemently deny smoking pot, and only doing THC-free CBD oil. Donāt throw caution to the wind if youāre in a situation where you UA. I get UAād frequently, and Iām not willing to put the theory of āitās not marijuana, so Iām goodā
Totally anecdotal:
I received a free sample of CBD isolate from Floydās at Dirty Kanza. I usually have trouble getting to sleep the night before a big event⦠Or any event really. I threw caution to the wind and took two capsules in the evening before DK. Definitely took the edge of the anxiety and I got to sleep fairly easy and woke up feeling good.
Iād try it again if I can navigate how to buy the damn stuff at home.
CBD and THC donāt have the same psychoactive effects. In fact, CBD is a nonpsychoactive compound. That means it doesnāt produce the āhighā associated with THC. CBD oil (in itās purest form) is extremely healthy for humans and animals, the list is long of all that it helps. Iām a health nut and extremely healthy and exercise five days a week. I rarely eat meat due to the hormones that are injected into the animals which highly increases our chances of cancer. I started to take CBD oil and it has been a blessing to me, I have never smoked or have gotten high and Iām against it. CBD oil is not gonna do that to you unless its added and I wouldnāt know about that oil or if its even available.
I think a lot of people that have never tried cannabis consider CBD as a very mild version of cannabis without the ānegativeā effects that will relax them or help them recover better. This is not the objective of CBD supplementation. CBD will have effect on a cellular level and can benefit people that are suffering from an actual disease.
If youāre only looking to recover or sleep better, then just take in more anti inflammatory nutrition or even look into other herbs like Verbena Antioxidant effect of lemon verbena extracts in lymphocytes of university students performing aerobic training program - PubMed or SPEARmint What are the health benefits of spearmint? (MUCH MUCH cheaper and you could even grow them in your own garden so you know where itās coming fromā¦)
Iām for legalization and for people trying the cannabis plant as a whole to see what it does for their body and mind (edibles over smoking though). The cannabis world has turned into a billion dollar industry with all kinds of companies and investors jumping on the wagon making me kind of sceptic about the whole cbd hype.
Just my two cents,
Surprised to see this here, also somewhat surprised to see some negativity associated with cannabis use in athletes? This isnāt a new concept. Donāt like it? I respect that but why isnāt this a valid topic?
Mountain bikers have long known the benefits, Iām even a little skeptical if old fashioned smoking does too much harm if used moderately.
CBD?
Iād rather have an honest discussion about THC. I think thereās more of us out there who train seriously that use it regularly. I enjoy the effects and itās a huge sleep aid for me. How can that not be beneficial to recovery? I prefer smart dosing of edibles.
I donāt want to be rude, but it makes me very suspicious when someoneās first post on the forum is a link to a commercial website full of ads and referral links to buy products.
For the last few weeks, I tried to get informations about CBD but thereās so many companies pretending to give knowledge that is just hidden advertising for their products, supported by no evidence at all.
Given all the reports of severe illnesses recently tied to vaping, itās about the last thing that I would be advocating. Combine two somewhat unregulated products together, what go go wrong there.
Itās just a coincidence. Iām here not to advertise, but to share my personal opinion on an issue that is so controversial nowadays.
Itās just the matter of a personal choice.
And, thereās no evidence that vaping itself causes āmystery lung deseasesā as itās proclaimed in the media.
I would say I fall into this category. I wish I had an accessible method to vape it, but even with simply smoking it prior to weight-training or endurance rides, I have noticed pretty interesting neuromuscular connectivity that I think is either heightened or sped up due to THC. My ability to control, flex, or engage a variety of minor muscles makes my core routine seem much more impactful, and identifying imbalances more easy. This has radically improved my bike handling skills, to the point where I can ride and steer by simply engaging my core. The downside of course is increase inflammation in the body, and I have to be very attentive to my alcohol intake and limit that much more when smoking.
