I thought Aspero is more a gravel bike and - in my mind - better choice from Cervelo is Caledonia. Here, where I live, there is no Cervelo dealer and I have to but it via the Internet from another country so…there is no chance to take a closer look on it.
Trek Domane? Clearance up to 38 if not 40mm these days.
Trek Domane is on the backup list. The geometry is not race-oriented (at least I felt it that way during my test rides). I have all similar bikes on the list (with most relaxed geometry): Focus Paralane, Merida Sculptura Endurance. Basically all endurance bikes with clearance 35mm and more. What I like with a road bike and CX bike is the agile, pretty nervous characteristic. This is why I’m looking for a more racy bike with more tyre clearance. I know, I’m a terrible person with too many expectations But it is what it is. I appreciate your help. Thx!
The problem in EU is the price of the bikes. Trek and Specialized are so pricy. To achieve the weight of ~8kg I have to spent like additional 2-3K $ to the 5k for the bike.
The Mason Definition is officially 33mm, I checked. Depending on the actual tyre model, you might get 35s in.

FWIW I’ve run 35mm GravelKing SKs on a Definition.
I started talking with my local dealer about Ridley Kanzo Speed. We will see, maybe it will be the one . But thx for the info.
I went with a slightly aero all-arounder - Trek Domane.
I now have a set of gravel wheels and a set of road wheels. I’m pretty happy so far.
Trek Domane is a great bike but it’s too heavy. To achieve sub 8kg I would have to spend definitely too much money For now, on the table I’ve got a few types:
- Ridley Kanzo Speed (I love Fast version but it’s only 1x compatible) with all carbon components with scribe or hunt wheels and dual side Stages PM on mechanical ultegra groupset and Ultegra RX on the back (I started talking to my local dealer about it and maybe this one will be the one)
- Superior Team Issue on Ultegra
- Votec VRC on ultegra
Alternatives: some CX bike with 2x groupset but in this case I have to buy a frame only and build the bike from the scratch. But sth like Focus Mares, Cannondale SuperX would be a great choice for me.
SuperX was the first choice of main but…this 1x; Currently is available only with this configuration and we all know that buy a new frame and all components separately is not a budget friendly solution.
BTW - great looking bike! Beautiful fork paint job
Ridley kanzo fast is a nice rig
Yes, it is but with no option for 2x. For me, because of the lack of 2x option, at least from Ridley, there is only Kanzo Speed on the table right now. Actually I started talk to my local dealer about the configuration of the bike. For about 5k of $ I can buy a bike with full mechanical ultegra with ultegra RX at the back, deda elementi carbon finishing kit, with power meter (I can chose Giant Powe Pro or Rotor crank and some option from power2max) and from the 5k$ I have still 1k for a nice pair of wheels (from scribe or hunt or from my local company evanlite). I just need a few days to rethink it. But it looks just great.
What’s the classified 2x set up cost?
Above 7k $ (7.2 at the moment) with no PM on it.
Damn
Don’t blame you for passing.
The kanzo fast Ekar makes 1x more appealing with its 13 gears. I think I might order one. Delivery September though
I stick to the Kanzo Speed and maybe I can have one in a few weeks. We will see. My local dealer try to manage it for me but in Europe the lead time is ~6 months now God damn!
Thats insane, 6 months to get a new bike
The situation on the market (at least in Europe) is insane. Almost everything is not available: power meters, shimano components, bikes. I wanted to build my new bike with shimano ultegra and giant handlebar and stem. Giant components will be available in the 24th week. Ok, so I can use Deda Elementi - nope, your size is not available right now and we don’t know delivery date. Power Meter - I want dual side, ultegra power meter. Stages - at leat in 4 months, 4iii - they don’t have any idea what the delivery time is, Giant Power Pro - week 30th.
I wanted to buy Stevens Super Prestige bike with ultegra. It was my first choice. The answer from the dealer: you have to wait fot the 2022 collection The same with Superior X Road (Czech brand) - road bike with clearence for 40mm tires.
Like I said - the situation on the market is just insane.
