I got a new iPhone and when all the apps transitioned for some reason TR was auto playing the written prompts on workouts. I had disabled that on my old phone.
So tonight as I am riding and and the prompts came up I reminded myself for the third time that I needed to turn them off but hadn’t yet.
It was on endurance work out and technique prompts and where/how you could experiment with your peddling technique.
It occurred me back in the Stone Age when Tyrannosaurus rex were riding the original racer mate, later turbo trainers and the countless iterations of squirrel cage resistance trainers, those noisy fans gave you instant feedback as to what you were doing in a pedal stroke.
You could literally hear whether you were mashing gears or spinning effectively and it was easy to get that immediate feedback as you fooled with your peddling technique.
Yeah, now I can see my watt output and cadence but I can still pedal like a box of rocks and keep my output and cadence the same.
Not suggesting we return to squirrel cage resistance trainers but they did offer something that today’s silent electronic trainers don’t.
