Is ZeroFrictionCycling new recommended way to remove factory grease before waxing a chain. One bottle is good for 10 full factory degreasings with multiple chains per degreasing session.
Im pretty new to chain degreasing, I have only ever used lube before, but I have been trying the wax thing. The last time I used degreaser I used Peaty’s, I have no idea if its the best though.
Just saw the hydrogen embrittlement question. I’m kinda skeptical at the idea of it happening with bicycle chains in the first place unless you really tried to make it happen. Anyway, C9-11 ethoxylate is a non-ionic surfactant, D-limonene isn’t water-soluble (and would be basic if it were), and petroleum distillates aren’t acidic either, so the Finish Line degreaser should be fine.
I’ve got a chain cleaner tool which after sterling work is now pretty grim, muc-off isn’t really cutting it to restore it back to like new condition.
Has anyone attempted using things like bicarb mix to try and get the worst of the crap off. I’d rather not use all my degreaser soaking it! Ideally I’d have a sonic cleaner but sadly not.
