Best Cycling Helmet 2025 | Guide to choose

I’ve been researching the best cycling helmet for the past few days because I really need a good one for safety and comfort during my rides. I’ve read reviews on websites like Bicycling, Outside, and GearLab, and they all seem to highlight these two as the best options:

Schwinn Thrasher Bike Helmet for Adult Men Women Age 14+

Giro Isode MIPS Cycling Helmet - Men’s
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BM6DW5Q2/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0BM6DW5Q2&th=1

However, I’m having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and I’d love to get your expert advice. I usually ride both in the city and on longer weekend rides. I want a helmet that’s lightweight, well-ventilated, and offers excellent protection. Comfort is also really important for me since I ride for a few hours at a time.

So which one should I get? Any recommendations or personal experiences would be really helpful! Thanks in advance.

I suggest you try them on. They have different shapes depending on the manufacturer and there could be shape differences between models.

I find comfort boils down to which specific helmet fits my head the best. I also find differences in fit between different models within a given brand so I have to try them on. I don’t concern myself with safety ratings as along as the helmet is a legitimate brand and has passed the relevant regulatory safety testing. They way I look at it is this: Ratings compare results to very specific physical tests. Any crash I have will certainly be different than those tests. If all the helmets were tested with physical tests that duplicated my actual crash, the order of the ratings would certainly come out different.

This is where I look first for safe helmets.

It also has a list of helmets that were tested by VA tech and Consumer Reports that agree on a good rating here:
