BC Bike Race vs Single Track 6

Just a heads up I believe the race is being held in different communities this year. Last year was Fernie, Kimberley and Rossland. This year is Fernie, Crowsnest Pass, West Bragg Creek and Canmore.

I do most of my mtb in Fernie and am familiar with Crowsnest Pass as well (Blairmore and Coleman days). My guess is Big Bear/Sooper Trooper/School of Rock on the Coleman day and the Blairmore day will be laps in/around the Pass Powderkeg area (Buck 50 and Spare Change maybe?) Should be fun. Big Bear has some spicy stuff for sure! Don’t weenie out on tires!

Also I believe Jon/Ivy are doing it this year - at least Jon is and he’s trying to get Ivy to do it.

I think you meant Coleman where you said Canmore. I know all the ST6 zones well (except fernie). I’d imagine that Coleman day will be the most technical, big bear in particular has a few tricky moves. Other than that though it’ll be one of the smoothest ST6 routes I’ve seen.

That trail that started with V? Meant like no, or don’t, or something. How does that rate on the scale of things?

(I’ll try find the name from the sign in the video later)

yeah, you’re right. fixed that!

Verboten? The upper section (first minute) has a pretty tricky root section that opens up and looks more intimidating than it is. Stay left close to the big tree.

Here’s a POV I did with time stamp right at the tricky part. Sorry for the quality - this was filmed on a GoPro4

That looks like such a cool trail (and all the ST6 stuff).

It’s quite similar to a lot of the trails I like to ride, just a lot longer generally. You and Macky are a lot faster I suspect lol.

Is that similar to the trails the TR trio would have done back in 2017(?)?

Verboten has been a staple on the day they race the alpine resort trails.

The second Fernie day they race the community trails more and they’ve changed it up in the past few years. They used to race a descent called “Hypervent” but due to logging they now race “Todays Special” as the premier trail that day. In 2017 they would’ve raced Hypervent. Today’s Special has some steep sections, but not overly technical.

So . . . How’d it go? I’m looking at these two, and Brick Epic. My biggest concern is technical down hills. I can ride them, but I’m an CC guy at heart.
