You can forget that. Don’t think the internal cable routing will be happy
Someone mentioned chainring bolts. Double/triple check those. Make sure they are cleaned and greased properly. Lots of issues where people think its crank and its actually those.
Big vote for BBInfinite. Huge upgrade in every way. I’m baffled that more people don’t use them. I have them on 5 different bikes with never a creak or other problem
Thanks. This is looking increasingly like the way I will go if the second attempt with loctite 641 doesn’t work. I emailed their customer service and they have said I need this one:
It’s $350 which seems a lot compared to some of the others?
Anyone know if they have a UK or EU sales outlet?
That is for their highest level ceramic bearings, akin to CeramicSpeed stuff. Their steel bearings are 35% cheaper
Aha! So they tried to ‘up sell’ me
Can’t blame them for offering their highest quality item I guess.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe BB30a issues will never be fixed, because too strict tolerances aside, it’s the frame that squeeks and cracks due to the fact that they drill from both sides halfway, causing vertical shift, giving room to wiggle for the crank however you fit it in and however you grease it. You cannot fix the frame. Aside from Hambini being over the top, I do believe Canondale’s tolerances are too wide (resulting in too much variation in the drill).
There is a toggle mid-page to select the different bearings
Thanks
I’m sorry to disappoint, but they really drill from both sides, to save cost in manufacturing. Watch some Hambini video. He is crazy, but he also has solid information in there. You cannot eyeball this, you need special measurement equipment for this (which he uses).
Edit: what I’m trying to say is, BB30A would not necessarily have these issues id they’d improve drilling. It’s the wiggle room that causes uneven wear on the bb components and bearings, yielding the infamous creak (if I understand it correctly).
I’ve got Campag Potenza Power Torque on my CAAD12 using the standard Campag BB. Fitted with 641. No creaks. I suspect I might be lucky as I know others who have CAAD12s that squeak, albeit with Shimano and 3rd party BBs.
You can buy the BBInfinite insert without bearings. You said you have the Hambini higher quality Japanese bearings. Use those.
Also, if the color you want is not available without bearings, email or call them and they’ll get you the color you want. And, when it comes to install, don’t hesitate to email them with any questions. They’ve very responsive.
Are you sure that’s possible?
BBInfinite appear to be using a smaller bearing so that they can fit the 1mm thick sleeve between the 42mm BB shell and a 40mm bearing. This is not a standard bearing, unlike the TNT, SKF or FAG bearings that you get from Hambini.
That’s the reason he doesn’t make a BB that works in a 42mm shell with a 30mm spindle.

Mike - Good point. It looks like you may be correct here. I am running Campy on my Synapse. For the Campagnolo BB30A, BBInfinite offers a “without bearings” option, which is what I bought since I had a perfectly new set of Campy bearings that came with my groupset. I didn’t realize BB30A “without bearings” options are not offered on their website for other groupsets.
The best way to clarify is to contact BBInfinite directly.
If indeed this is the case that only the Campy bottom brackets are offered with a “without bearings” option, I confess, I’m not sure how to receive this news. As a Campy user, I’m not familiar with the experience of having options.
EDIT — RE their blog post about the 4030 bearings: those are only for their brackets made for 30mm spindles (bold emphasis added):
We use the 4030 bicycle bearing in our BB86-30mm and Dub, BB92-30mm and Dub, BB30/BB30A-30mm, and our English/Italian threaded BB’s for 30mm and Dub.
BBInfinite sells bottom bracket inserts and replacement bearings across the range of standard sizes to accommodate all of the common groupsets.
So …
I’ve eventually gone with the C-Bear solution as it appeared (from various searches on feedback) to be reasonably well liked by buyers and represented reasonable value for money, as well as being available for next day delivery from a UK suppler.
I will report back on success (or otherwise) after installation.
Thanks for everyone’s help and advice
How did your solution work? I’m facing a similar issue with a Cannondale synapse and would rather not replace the cranks. Also could you link where you purchased the part for repair? Many thanks!
Actually the solution has been really good. So far there has been no problem to note. Circa 4000 miles without any issues manifesting.
If you just Google search etc CBear website - then the product link for Cannondale (as per screen shot below) takes you to what you need.
Edit - they sell them at Sigma Sports in the UK (see below)
Best of luck.
Good to hear! I will have to give it a try thanks for the help!
