Arghhh ...having a hard time removing old layers of tubular glue

WD40…same as Gt85. I found this out accidentally spraying some on some nipples to help free them up…it melted the glue…just scraped off with a round ended knife from the cutlery drawer. Very easy.

My coach taught me this one…he raced in the 80’s so it has to work.

  1. Goof off spray
  2. Spray on paper towels to the point they are drenched
  3. lay on rim - drenched paper towels covering the glue
  4. wait overnight
  5. plastic tire lever and scrape the next day

i think the key is leaving the solvent on

Best thing I have found and works a treat is ‘Female Make-Up Removal Face Wipes’. Don’t ask me why or how but it strips the tub glue so easily and doesn’t damage the carbon rims. Used it to clean up my C40 Disc Tubs when I got a bit too excited with the glue.

I had these wheels sitting round for a few years used Effetto did take two coats, but think I applied it wrong the first time leave two long and the glue hardens again, lelf it for about 2=3 hours and scraped off with the park tyre leaver, wipe off with some paper towel and warm water then used abit of brake cleaner.

Best thing would be to sell them and get some clinchers?
