AIFTP and outdoors (best practice)

Setting the bug aside, is this the best practice?

  • Looking at a recently completed activity, rate RPE on that ride.
  • Now, if it was done from a TR workout, check that you followed that workout, specifically that you didn’t have any pauses during work intervals, power was on target, and that your rest intervals were as prescribed.
  • If you missed on the intervals, un-associate the ride.

What happens otherwise is, if you were doing 3x10s, and you stopped at a traffic light during one of them, TR is getting the signal that you couldn’t handle the work in a particular workout, which could include the “on” intervals in an endurance workout.

Happy to be corrected where that’s wrong.

Don’t really understand the OP, but best practise is to find a route that allows you to execute your intervals unimpeded.

So find yourself a twelve minute hill and your 3x10 will be fine.

Dont worry about ftp prediction.

I’m asking how to associate activities to workouts and whether that effects prediction/detection.

We don’t even know how perfectly completed workouts (especially outdoors) affects prediction or detection. It’s a complete black box. So it would be hard to make recommendations about how to associate workouts to get the best prediction/detection.

Yeah. IDK. When I was intent on doing structured workouts outdoors, I had a place about 15 miles away I’d drive to that had a few routes where I could reasonably follow structured workouts. That grew old and I gave up on it. I switched to simply doing unstructured rides, did not associate them plan workouts, and AI seemed to digest and apply the results OK.

I think this is a huge part of it
