Adaptive Training Closed Beta Update

:raising_hand_man::raising_hand_man:

I’m heavily tweaking my workouts now anyway, so I’m curious to see how AT will approach the tweaking  Besides that, seeing my progression is actually the information I imagine would be most useful for me.

For outdoor workouts, I am blessed with endless flat roads with little junctions / furniture so I can knock out some steady efforts or some clean intervals where needed (see below). So I’m fairly confident AT will be able to handle my outdoors workout better than most

I’m in. last week of a block before rest week and it recommended a bit of a bump in this evenings threshold workout. I was thinking the planned workout might be a little easy as I suspect I’ve regained some fitness in last 10 days or so. New workout is slightly shorter but more time in zone.

I do tend to move workouts around quite a bit in my calendar depending on family/work/mood and it seems that breaks plan builder/AT, so not sure I’ll get many recommended adaptions. I don’t do outdoor workouts but race season starts in few weeks. Hopefully they can start including those soon.

Nice analysis, taking into account the longer term. I think you’re right the aim should be for the end of year, as the summer rides will not be taken into account by AT for now. And the prospect of SSB3/4 makes a lot of sense, more so then just redoing 1&2. The most exciting part of AT with 12-24 week base would for AT to recognize if I need 3, 4 or 5 weeks between rest weeks, dynamically. I feel that is now the big missing link. Fitness gains are reached when training impulse is matched with high quality recovery.

I hope @Nate_Pearson read your message!

I was referring to the few (40) added April-27 → 10-May, which looked like treading water, then ~4x that amount (168) added this week, seemingly restoring the pace - though we shall see… Just an observation, nothing worth arguing about :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I also move workouts around a lot, those seem to be getting updated I think?

Mmm, if you’re UK based it is far from summer, it’s still cold and wet, it’s horrible.

When TR eventually begins analysing/classifying non-workout rides, I can only begin to imagine the volume of discussion and disagreement we’re going to see around here on the subject of how effectively or “accurately” it does this.

My first Adaptive Workout is named Buttertubs, a low level threshold workout. Ouch TR, ouch.

That one shows up in the podcast a few times

I am not sure if this is the forum to post bugs? If not, apologies and let me know where that should be… if so, I just want to note that the feedback is not always displaying the correct questions. Sometimes when I click on the ‘provide feedback’, I am provided a list of reasons why I quit a workout, such as “mechanical”, “motivation” and several other. Not the perceived efforts such as Easy/Moderate/etc

THanks!

You mean when you have successfully completed the session?

You’ll see this is you finish the ride before the TR session completely ends - it assumes you failed it. If you got to the end then you’ll get the ‘How did it feel’.

Even if you end it during the warm down? Say 30 secs before end?

You get that if AT thinks you didn’t successfully complete the workout. If you think you did successfully complete the workout, then send TR support - support@trainerroad.com - an email with the workout URL and why you think you successfully completed it, and they can dig in.

I think when AT beta was first announced folks who were long time TR users were given first priority for being added which makes total sense. Apologies if this has been asked/answered already (there are a lot of posts!), but are folks now being added in order of sign up or by some other priority? For reference I signed up Feb. 28th, a few days after the announcement, after consistently using TR 3-6 days/wk since June 2020. Are the folks being added in these recent batches those who signed up in the first day or two?

They’ve said multiple times that the selection is completely random.

Ok so people who sign up today can get in before folks who signed up on the first day, gotcha.

The whole AT experience has sucked quite a bit since the announcement, hasn’t it?

Yes. When I successfully completed a ride. I get the following window, asking “How Did The Ride Feel:” Then all the options are failure options:

That looks like a bug…
