I thought it all too fitting to do a 60 day follow up given @tj7mesh making this available to us.
With the entire race season in W.Canada on hold I decided to put my winter training and now peak fitness to some use with a little return to the roots of cycling adventure. Decided to ride Jasper to Canmore Alberta in a single shot on the solstice, 315km, and see if we could do it sub 11hrs.
Anytime you do these types of rides logistics are almost more important than the fitness, and given we were going to be riding in the Rockies and climbing two massive passes, going past the Icefields, clothing choice was key. You know that saying “there’s no bad weather only bad clothing…” ya it’s real.
Enter Synergy jacket. Hands down best piece of kit. If you need ONE jersey/jacket for a ride with any kind of weather just buy this and be done with it. Worked great in everything from dry 5*C start at 530am, to 92km/h descents off of peaks, to rain showers, and everything in between. Vents well when working, keeps you warm when descending, keeps you dry, and best of all the pockets can handle EVERYTHING you could ever want.
Now i just need to get me a pair of cargo bibs…never saw the use before, absolutely do now!
