$5-$8K budget - what would you buy?

Merlin Cycles in the UK in spring 2020. Dura Ace, the whole nine yards. Best purchase I’ve made.

I see screaming deals all the time on smaller sized bikes. Me, I’m right in the sweet spot of a 56 and hardly ever see those deals. :frowning:

Ummm, SSCX is a valid reason for a single speed.

Bridge Bicycle Works Surveyor with Ultegra 12spd Di2 and the Zipp 404’s I already have. More traditional road bike geometry with big tire capability so I can run 38mm Rene Herse slicks plus it’s got a T47 BB, internal routing, 27.2 seat post, made in Canada and reasonably priced.

This is what I’m saving towards right now IRL so I can dedicate my gravel bike to just gravel. Should be able to order it in the next month or so.

Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1 €4100 approx
Nearly race ready from the box

  • Light
  • Mechanical Ultegra
  • Stiff
  • Crank Power meter included
  • SLR 1 wheels ~1450g carbon disc wheels
  • Light alu handlebar but would recommend upgrading
  • Saddle okay but I upgraded to specialized saddle
  • Gavia Course 1 Tyres (should be the only must upgrade at the start. I use GP 5000 TR 28)

Just remembered that the € is now pretty much on par with the $ so you could go for the advanced pro 0 for Di2 and stay well in budget with cash left over for handlebars, pedals, saddle, maybe even wheels like Roval CLX 32
