Aka. ‘The Midwest’ for those who care about such distinctions.
So i know the courses are posted yet, but can anyone give an idea of what this area is like? 30 sec rollers? Bigger hills? More flat?
Check out Ben Delaney’s Strava feed. He was down there recently filming a course preview. Fast, punchy rollers would be my summary based on the general area.
Thanks–>good info. Looks like 1 mile hills that all seem to plateau? interesting
They are about 5-7 minute climbs
I’ve got my own opinions about this region. You’ll have yours. But this will be a great time of year to be in The Driftless.
Course maps here.
Can someone in-the-know please post the mile markers of the closed (during pre-riding) sections? TIA
@chasethebiker - do you know which sections are closed off for pre-riding?
Looks pretty fun. I almost want to make the drive
Being an amateur and having never done an “official” USA cycling event - do I need to do anything before registering for the amateur race? I am a bit confused if I need a membership or if that is only for elite/open category? I think the answer is I don’t need anything but just wanted to confirm! https://d31phgno5jnghy.cloudfront.net/gravelnats/documents/2025-Gravel-Eligibility.pdf
Pretty sure you need a USAC license. Either an annual license or one-day. Which you would purchase in addition to registering via BikeReg. I could be wrong on the process for One Day purchases.
I saw somewhere on the website they have a discounted license for people who dont have one. Not sure if its just a one day, or a discounted annual one.
