2021 Specialized Diverge released

What setup are you running on your 56 Domane - spacers, stem, etc?

On my 56 Domane, I have 3 spacers, and a down-turned 80mm 7 degree stem.

The stock setup on my 54 Diverge results in pretty much the identical geometry I.e. same saddle to bar drop and horizontal distance.

90mm stem, horizontal, one 5mm spacer.

With that setup, you have a pretty sizable saddle to bar drop.

If you want to have the same saddle to bar drop on the Diverge, my calculations show you’ll need to go with the 54. And run a 90mm 6 degree stem, downturned. (90mm to get the same saddle to bar horizontal distance as your Domane)

If you go with the 56 Diverge, 80mm 6 degree downturned stem, the saddle to bar drop will be about 1.5cm less - so a less aggressive posture.

So I guess it depends on how aggressive you want the fit on the Diverge to be.

I’ll add the usual caveat: beware taking bike fitting advice from a stranger on the internet

Edit: one additional note - the diverge seatpost is a setback design - so depending on your saddle placement, you might be able to get by OK with the stock 80mm stem on the 54.

Edit #2: on the Diverge 54, I have 18cm of seatpost exposed. You’ll have about 25cm. The seatpost is 38 long. So you’ll have 13cm insertion depth. Talk to your shop to get guidance on of this is enough.

Edit #3: my calculations above assume the Diverge is equipped with the Specialized hover bar design, which adds another ~1.5cm rise vs normal bars. On the 56 Diverge, you could increase the saddle to bar drop, and match your Domane, by swapping to a normal set of bars.

Love all this Diverge talk. Was really looking to get one and possibly replace my SL6 Comp Tarmac with di2.

Would probably use my Enve 5.6 Disc for road and get an Enve gravel wheel setup. Assuming that is a thing or can be.

I have to say though I really love my Tarmac but I would rather get a Diverge for the diversity and then another bike like a Specialized mtn bike as my N+.

It depends. Future Stem from Specialized? It’s an easy swap. A set screw for the top cap and then it’s like any other stem. It needs a shim if you’re using any other ‘regular’ stem.

I swapped to a 90mm S Works Future stem from the 100 that came on my 61 Comp Carbon and just fumbled my way through.

It is a really comfortable bike. My road bike is a stiff aero bike with aero wheels. I do mainly solo rides and I haven’t given up much in average speed.

The more relaxed geometry has meant I can ride in the drops easily and more comfortably. I did a 100km mixed gravel/tarmac ride this morning, about 80% of it in the drops. The bigger tyres and compliance in the frame, I finish it feeling really fresh.

Doesn’t look as nice as the Tarmac in my opinion…, so I might get one still!

Thanks and good to hear. Is it true that all of the Diverges are sram? I am so used to shimano and di2 and was wondering.

Hmm, never heard the sram thing before. Mine is stock 2x GRX

Mine as well, 2x Shimano GRX800. They actually feature Shimano, Sram and Campy builds in the Diverge lineup. Wish they had a 2x Di2 option though… Alas an upgrade for the future…

Ahh ok thanks and was just browsing only and noticed sram but did not look at all of them.

dumb question; does the SWAT box come with the little baggie or is that a “purchased separately” item?
If you dont run it do you risk items just getting lost in the frame?

Mine came with the bag. It also isn’t that expensive, I certainly wouldn’t let stuff bounce around in there, the noise wiould drive me crazy.

its been a while here in this thread but I hope to find some answers.
I want to buy a Diverge and struggle with the sizes. I am 181cm with inseam 86cm. I am riding a Müsing Crozzroad Disc in 56 and looking to buy a Diverge. Not sure if a 54 or a 56 would be the better fit. I already tested the 54 and the reach seems normal but i was a bit low. normaly I ride a saddle to bar distance of 5-6cm which is fine.
Would be great if you could share some experiences.
Thanks and regards!

Hard to tell for certain just on those measurements, but at 181cm, I would think a 54 is too small. I ride a 54 (not a Diverge, though but did on my first gen Venge) at 175 and am borderline for a 56……honestly my first reaction when I saw your height was “58”.

I would also think a 54 would be too small for you. I’m 177cm and went with a 54 in my Diverge. I’m also borderline 54-56 but every other drop bar bike I have ever owned over the years has been a 54 so I’m sticking with it.

For me the reach actually felt a little long. I prefer my gravel bike to fit just like my road bike so I ended up swapping for a shorter stem and I also changed the bars out to a set without as much sweep. The angled hood position on the stock bars added to that feeling that the bike was to long for me.

Once I made those tweaks it’s felt great.

What is your BB to saddle height?

I have the Diverge, Venge and Tarmac SL6, all in 56.

183cm with 77cm BB to top of saddle.

Perfect fit on all bikes, and that means that it’s a bit more relaxed on the Diverge of course since it’s a whole different bike than the rest.

It’s also my favourite… :sunglasses:

Just bought a Diverge Carbon Sport in 54, I ride a Scott Addict 54 as well.

Thanks for the replies.
My BB to saddle height is 741mm and my actual bike has reach of 383 and Stack 580. I already used it with a 100,90 and 80mm stem and everything worked so far. 80mm is with 6cm saddle to handlebar. On the 54 diverge I tested it was 7-8cm without spacer. I am looking for comfort on the gravel bike and I don’t like adding a lot of spacer. Something around 4cm saddle to bar would be nice. My big concern is the long reach of the 56, the stack including the future shock seems perfect.

Hi!
Does anyone know/have any info on the 2022 Sworks Diverge colors? Or any potential dates when we could see them?
Thanks
