i was looking at the s works model where it shows about 10mm longer stems across the board. 110 vs 100. wonder why they go with a longer stem on the s works model?
Likely since they presume this will go to a “serious” cyclist who may want a more “aggressive” fit.
They have the numbers, but many of the top end builds we sell are to riders that do not fall into that category. I’ve cringed (internally) at some of the fits I apply to top level bikes, making them into “comfort” bikes
I wish I would have stayed in school to become a teacher. It was my dream but life got in the way. Summers off, xmas off, lots of time off. Not an easy job for sure and under appreciated as well. Times like this really shows who the important people in our society are and they are not the ones with billions! I am a lowley postal worker/letter carrier in Canada. My cousin the teacher makes about $35000 a year more than me. But then she has her masters and a couple other things. We all make choices and we all live with them. I am thankful to have a job right now even if it is for a terrible company!
I bought a 2018 aluminum e5 diverge with 105 in 2019. Love the bike. Love the front shock. Only take 37 mm tires and I wish it could take wider. Bought it for jut over $900 off sticker. I split time between it and a 2018 specialized roubaix elite with 105 that I bought in 2019 for 40% off. Almost the same bike but still very different. I saved quite a while for them.
Looks like they updated it nicely inline with the changing market.
I could not justify a high end one, given how little of my riding is outdoors, but I could consider the carbon comp as my gravel/gravel-bikepacking bike.
I think specialized have recognized this - that’s why they designed the hover bar with 15mm additional rise for the Diverge.
With the short head tube, and design of the FS, there’s a limit to the number of spacers that can be added under the stem - so they added rise to the bars to allow for more range in the fit.
The flat bar option seems very intriguing to play the role of my new commuter/offroad machine. Essentially I was thinking of a rigid mountain bike for years, but usually that meant building your own bike or modifying a mountain bike that you bought.
