2020 Giro d'Italia Discussion

Let’s hope it doesn’t impact these later stages!

Filippo Ganna going for the win in stage one. Ineos have so many amazing riders.

Richie Porte is now an Ineos rider as of 2021!!!

So I finally took a look at the route for this year, and that final week is savage. Stage 20 in particular, is just insane. Something like 5600 meters (18000 ft) of elevation gain, and the first climb is at 2744 m altitude. All this is after 4 consecutive 200+km stages, 3 of which are in the high mountains (253 km stage the day before). This is just inhumane …

This is ridiculous! Far out. Will be an interesting one to watch @cjschmalz1

I still feel bad about what happened to Remco. It would have been a blast to see that boy spice up the Giro. After a season like this, I just hope that there are no major accidents considering how late they will be going to the high mountains and that with a Grand Tour on the line there will certainly be attacks on the descents.

Can’t wait to see the peloton ride through my local roads this year too

Yeah, it could get hairy. I’ve read that there have already been several reports of snowfall in the mountains, and weather projections indicate snow will fall during the Giro as well. So long as it falls a day or two before they reach a specified pass, it sounds like they’ll be able to clear the roads, but if it falls the day of, we may have some crazy moments and shortened stages.

Oh, sweet jesus…

When did EF pick up Los Pollos Hermanos as a sponsor?

wow. There is more going on on that jersey than in all the other team-jerseys combined.

VN on the new jersey design…

I’m a bit of a uniform nerd, this thing is an abomination

I love the look of the jersey. Crazy and obnoxious, yes. But I get a bit bored with all the solid and boring jerseys in the peloton. I gladly welcome a crazy design like this! The bike is gorgeous as well.

I think many of the national team jerseys are much nicer than the trade teams. I particularly like the Spanish and Romanian jerseys. New Zealand has a nice pattern, although the black and white is a it boring.

Just going to leave this here…The TT helmets are amazing

There was a lot of snowfall in the Alps last week. This image is from Meribel 4 days ago, just below Col de la Loze where the tour stage finished on 16th Sept. Within a couple of days though it’s all gone and it’s back to being a golf course. I suspect it will be hard work but they’ll be doing what they can to keep the passes open for the Giro, just need to be lucky with when the snow actually falls.

Dear god… There is so much going on with that jersey, and it is all awful.

That said, the TT helmet design is actually brilliant and I’m into it.

I dig it. Will probably be the first pro team kit I buy and wear if I can find one for sale

Selling limited quantities on the Rapha site, I believe…

I love the EF kits, I think I love them even more because of the comment sections under every post about them. People really hard up about one team having some fun with their kits haha. I mean, if people really want to hate on an ugly kit the Bardiani “Barney” kit takes the cake for me. (I will say the faces on the sleeves of the EF kit is weird, I’m hoping there is a significance I’m just not grasping since I can’t tell who they are.)

I think Sagan has a great shot at the points jersey if he actually is interested in going for it. I think he got a lot of flak at the Tour for not winning a stage or grabbing green but he was right up there in the top 5 of almost every sprint and I think while there is competition at the Giro it’s not as difficult as Bennet and Ewan. I think Michael Matthews will be his biggest competition for points if he wants it.
