1000 watts for one minute. Is it true?

Wouldn’t the kilometer guys be doing something in that range?

Kilo riding is a little different: It’s a full gas effort from a standing start in a gear that’s far too long to get moving easily and then hanging in there with a gear that’s probably a little bit too short.

1000w for 31s is my current, but 1750w for 5s.
Honestly, 1min of 1000w would be great but i dont know how i could effectively use it. None of the courses I race have that much runway before the finish line. The crits are all 30s or less, and even the RR rarely have a long enough drag that it could be used effectively.
Would still be amazing to have that kind of power for that duration.

Almost 1000 here, for 30secs - and around 680 for 1 minute though.

yeah in flesche wallone @hui the best climbers do just short of 500w for 3min so there’s along way to 800…

I’ve already held 1000w for 30s @61kg, I’ll be going for 1 min. soon.(with proof)

I can hold 1000+ for 5 seconds… on a good day
That must count for something :joy:

It does. I remember the gcn guys doing an all out sprint and the struggled hard to hit 1100 going all out being ex pros ;p

You guys are unreal, can we swap bodies or something?!??!?!?

For the flying Kilo on the track it’s possible they are 1000w for 1 minute.

My best 1000w effort is 27s
My best 1 minute power is 726w

So nowhere near the monsters on here.!

Triathlete here with my MASSIVE sprint. :stuck_out_tongue:

577W is my best 1min. I’ve held 1030 for 6s.

Hoping to mix it up in some crits this year though so I’ve got nowhere to go but up.

Well you’re beating my 498W for 30s…

What kind of RPM are we talking here? I’m not sure how I’d get my trainer to resist that much for a minute.

And you guys have demoralized me.

I thought my cat 5 self could be happy that I can peak at 1700W

Not entirely sure - it was outdoors up a short hill so I reckon probably around 95? That’s a guess though - I’d need to go back into the Strava file to look it up. :+1:

On my phone at the moment - will check and let you know when I get access to my laptop.

Christ! The longest I’ve ever held 1000 watts is 9 seconds and that was with an extra kick of adrenaline from getting chase by a dog.
