Your best bib short recommendations - 2018-2022ish

+1 - I have the Pro SL long and they are my favourite pair by a long shot. Mavic make a decent pair too.

Rapha pro team are really nice. I like the pro team aero version a bit less. They’re nice enough, just not as comfy for me, and massively wide straps!

I highly recommend Castelli Free Aero bibs. I have some old ones with the Progetto X2 pad, but crashed in them in August. Recently bought the new version (4.0) - only £67 on sale! I wore them first time yesterday for 1.5 hours on the trainer and found them pretty comfy. The pad is quite short at the front, which suits for a low position with no bunching. I was shifting around slightly near the end of my sessions - just breaking them in I reckon. Only real complaint is the straps are quite thin in terms of width, so tend to twist and bunch up slightly.

I ripped the seam on my 3 year old flyweights during an event. I submitted the short form with a picture or two, and they said unfortunately it couldn’t be repaired and sent me a voucher for the price of a brand new pair. That’s incredible service and they have earned my business for the foreseeable future.

Great price. Where was this?

The pro sl is comfy but I find they are extremely hot compared to other brands.

Pedal Heaven - I’d never heard of them before. Ordered Saturday, arrived Tuesday - £150 price label still attached

thanks will take a look.

Can I ask if any recommendations have been made based on 2-3 hour turbo rides. All my bibs (Santini, Castelli , Bontrager and Rapha) are fine outdoors but over 2hrs indoors and the comfort just goes.

After a failed experiment to find some cheaper bibs, I picked these up a couple weeks ago and love them. Worth the extra few dollars.

I recently received a pair of Red White stealth bibs and have worn them on several trainer rides from 2 to over 3 1/2 hours over the past couple weeks. They’ve quickly become my “go to” bibs for the longer rides. In my experience, they are more comfortable than a much more expensive pair of Assos I have.

I’m a big nalini fan, I wont ride with any other bib shorts. I’ve found some cheaper ones for training and some awsome ones for race day, I’ve tryed other brands of bibs, but nalini is my favorite. other than one pair that is reserved for important races only

I like the Free Aero’s also, but opt for Castelli’s Endurance X2 bibs for long indoor work. Same chamois, but more affordable without the aero fabrics. Occasionally on sale for the $100 range.

La passione are my choice, only buy them when there’s a sale!

didnt you have problems with chafing?

That’s the goal.

No pain no gain!!!

:grimacing:

Thanks for the reply, I’ve been looking at their bibs for a while as apparently great for long days.

the goal was to get chafing?

The best bibs I have for indoor are rapha’s pro-team lightweight bibs. got them on blow-out sale in one of their stores. horrendous color writing (orange) but they are super thin and airflow is good in them. Not sure how the new indoor bibs differ from them.

what’s the chamois like? Thick, thin, much padding up the front area.

It would be the top of the line I would imagine?
