Your best bib short recommendations - 2018-2022ish

Thanks, but I tried the Classic bibs at full price and ended up returning them. Even at 10% off, I just can’t stomach the price of the pro bibs and they don’t have a free trial period. After trying the assos R9’s , I ended up buying 2 more pairs and I’m really happy with them.

I’ve been using Endura Pro SL II bibs, the pad is not thick but it has no panels & is incredibly comfortable. The fabric is way more high end than I’m used to & very compressive. They’re by far the best bibs I’ve ever worn.

I like grade cycling. They are a small company out of Colorado. Very good quality.

I echo this as well. Have been using Pro SL II and liking it so far and today I’ve just received my order for the 2020 Pro SL bibs. Will be wearing it for my ride later, looking forward.

RS S9 are currently my favourite as well - compared to Rapha Pro, Q36.5, Chpt3, 7 mesh, Castelli Aero, and La Passione.

I was recommended some Santini with the GitEvo or C3 chamois but having trouble finding some on the discount sites and unsure if I am an L or XL in those. PBK has some or the Scatto but the size thing worries me.

I wear a Medium Bontrager bib and a Medium Pearl Izumi. Unsure of what to get right now. I was going to try Rapha but the only one that’s not outrageously priced (core line) is sold out. Black bibs are sold out and I hear a lot of mixed things about those.

Suggestions? What websites are the most friendly when it comes to exchanging for sizing if anything? Every brand seems to have their own fit so it’s a bit annoying

Kind of narrowed down to Rapha and Pactimo for perceived quality and user reviews being good, good service, etc

Anyone have any further feedback about them? Most of my rides are 1-5 hours.

I’ve had a couple airs of Rapha’s core and classic bibs and think the classic shorts are worth springing the extra money for. They seem to last longer and the material feels much nicer. I’m a big fan.

I have a set of MAAP kit too which I like

I have a couple of Pactimo bibs-Summit Raptor and some random ascent level bibs–very pleased with both of those-the quality seems very high quality. The summit raptor I’ve had for a few months-the straps are great on the bibs-sit flat and once put on they just seem to stay in place and I don’t notice them at all. They are ‘compressive’ but I wouldn’t describe it as squeezing and definitely NOT too tight-supportive is probably fair description. This bibs just fit me well and the pad is great on multi-hour rides-feels maybe ‘big’ when you put them on but once on the bike it just ‘melts’ away as I saw someone else say. I got both at a big discount to the ‘list’ price. I’ve been looking to get Rapha but keep looking back at Pactimo.

Does anybody have any experience with Universal Colours?

Been following them on Instagram and their products seem to be getting a handful of good reviews.

Isadore climber’s bibs.

It’s so comfortable that you won’t even think about it on your rides.

How is the sizing of Rapha bib shorts compared to Assos? I ride size L from Assos, should I take the same size from Rapha too?

I recently bought the Assos Equipe RS9, I love everything about them except the most important part - pad comfort. They’re barely more comfortable than my various 20€ AliExpress bibs. I’ve tried on several Castelli bibs but couldn’t get along with them, Assos has nice “junk room” at the front.

I’m thinking of swapping them for MILLE GT, but am also wondering if any other brand/ model offers similar “junk room”.

I haven’t had assos to compare but I ordered the same size in Rapha as I have every other brand I’ve bough. LG, Black Bibs, Cutaway, etc.

I second this

I’d try Cento before trying the Mille. It’s big step down in material and you lose almost all the compressiveness.

I ride same size in both brands

I wear one size smaller Rapha than Assos.

Having said that, Rapha is fantastic about returns. If you order the wrong size, No problem.
