The peyote are just too expensive if you ask me and I’m not surprise to hear about Pirelli being hard to seat and inflate, took me everything to set-up my P-Zeros tubeless so if their MTB tires are the same, it would be quite the fight!!! Seems like it’s the Rick XC Pro then.
Did you already order the Air Traks? I have a set I’m looking to get rid of and want to try out the dubs. Maybe a little tradesy
My tradeinn order finally shipped so I already have the Specilaized tires coming. Also, I raced the Dubs most of last year and they are well used.
Hoping to get the tires this week so I can start testing asap before it gets too hot.
Another note, I raced yesterday and took note of what the other experts were using.
Maxxis Aspen ST
Pirelli Scorpion M
Specilaized Air/fast Trak
Vittoria Mez/peyote
And I was using Ricks front and rear.

No Dubnitals?
Nope…. And all of last season I only noticed one other person using them besides me. After my second pinch flat, I decided they might not be best for me.

Having successfully used Rocket Rons all winter, I am leaning towards Ray/Ralph for my race setup this year. Last year I used Ground Control/Fast Trak but think it was an unnecessarily slow rolling combo although very predictable and trouble free. (Racing in UK type conditions)
no tire pressure issues when you pinch flatted? I just got a pair of dubs for the season, now I’m worried I got the wrong tires!
I love the Ray/Ralph combo as a race and everyday tire. I’m a pretty decent handler and descender. Probably the combo I’ll run for Breck Epic too.
Not that I was aware of. It happened once in a race and once in practice. I always check pressures before riding and typically run 15/16 front and 17-/18 rear @145ish lbs.
Never had this issue before and assume it might have to do with the sidewalls not being very stiff or sealing good.
I will also note that for the most part they are great tires and fast.

Finally…. Also received another set of Nextie wheels that are even lighter than my other pair. Give me a week or two to get the testing completed. ![]()
Which Nextie rim did you go with? I’m in the market for a new wheelset and Nextie has made the short list.
And….a butter knife??
Works great to install tires lol j/k.

I’m over a year into riding the Omega 36U’s. Laced em to a pair of hubs I already had so I can’t comment on their house brand.
They’ve been pretty bullet proof for lightweight rims. I had one race where I broke a spoke 5 miles in and was ready to pull the plug whenever it started rubbing the frame. Made it 32 miles of this:
With zero rubbing. Popped in a new spoke when I got home, been holding up perfect ever since.
