Since moving to Florida I really appreciate my base layers. They feel like a cold meat locker in the heat and a snuggly fleece blanket when it’s cool. Tech to make you feel good!

PS none of the above is actually true….except I did move to Florida.
If you are aiming to stay cool the podcast a few months ago had a good piece on summer base layer and the marketing folly of them there. In summary Chad said something like “More layer, more complexity = actually slower to dissipate heat”. Having said that I’ll wear one most days as we have the opposite problem of heat in the UK and its usually to cold and when the sun does finally appear it protects my milk bottle chest from sun burn. I have only forgone it limited hot days.
to protect my skin when I inevitably have a meeting with the tarmac.
I’m a big fan of CRAFT base layers to wear on the trainer and outside in spring. In a weird throwback way I like the euro string vest cyclist look with the jersey undone a bit. Maybe that’s just me. Ditch them for hot days though.
When wearing my white jersey I need a base layer to protect the eyes of innocent members of the public!
It’s aero and comfortable but leaves very little to the imagination!
#freethenipples!
This is why I only buy summer jerseys in dark colors!
But white looks so good! I should have learnt my lesson by now but the freshness keeps over ruling good sense.
