Looked like Keegan stayed with the front group until the last hour, where he was able to attack and get a minute gap. 2nd slowly closed it back, but still finished 25 secs behind Swenson.
Kate basically stayed at the front and slowly started pulling away to where she had a 3min gap by halfway, and finished close to 4mins ahead of 2nd.
Honorable mentions, the Bash Brothers Bradyn and Cole finishing 17th and 18th. Alexis Skarda getting 7th and Hannah Otto getting 12th, Chelsea Bolton 15th.
Hopefully they post a full live stream replay. I was on the edge of my seat refreshing the live timing.
I don’t know about this case, but generally TV (broadcast and streaming) coverage is very regional. There almost certainly are places to watch it in some countries. And time shifting is common even for broadcasted video. Thanks for changing the title.
edit: in fact you can watch on Flo in the US and other places MSN
Yeah, I have a specific “time window” that I allow myself to check social media in the mornings so I don’t get race results spoiled (Vuelta, before stages finish) and was surprised when I opened up IG and saw the UCI post of Keegan’s bike above his head. Doh! I’ll still try to watch it but love being able to see a race unfold without knowing the result, even if it’s 12 hours later.
I’ve been guilty of posting here and pissing people off for spoiling results, so I noticed it right away. It’s a fine line between celebrating together and getting everyone upset, so I just mostly avoid posting about races now.
this is epic. For kate she is having a rebirth. was she always more a XCM natural ? to dominate Leadvile and now this, she is riding like she does not care with her family where it is and her foundations etc.
For Keegan, it validates him in so many ways and makes the work really pay off. now he can go back to dominating the US scene and not be seen by row as the guy that is good in the usa only. This course was built for Keegan. if only it was at a little higher altitude, lol
Pretty Baller that it was like his first UCI event in a couple years (I think?) and starting from almost the back row, and then just comes out and wins it.
I always felt like Frischi had Kate on the wrong training program. Now it seems like she’s gone back to a style much more like when she was winning, and it’s paying off.
For all the folks who doubted Keegan’s world class talent up to this point, I doubt the XCM WC win will do anything to change that. I mean, were Pogacar or MVDP even in the race???
The XCM win is awesome, but shouldn’t be a surprise. That race was right in his wheelhouse (a little more altitude would likely have extended the gap). You could debate his 5th place performance at the UCI gravel world champions was even more impressive than the XCM win (no team, chasing back, really deep field, etc.). Anyone who questioned his talent after that WC Gravel performance is in denial or just ignorant about such things.
Glad to see him and Kate get the wins, will be cool seeing those rainbow stripes at some upcoming events. I wonder if Kate will jump back into anything else outside XCO this year. I think XCO wraps up same weekend as Little Sugar, maybe a decision point there with Kate’s Bentonville/Allied connections these days. I assume XCO is still her priority, but would be awesome to see her and Keegan race Little Sugar as World Champs.
The course included a 15 minute hike a bike section, sounds brutal. I think the quote was “hardest I’ve ever breathed in a bike race”. Love this recap format, just dudes talking bikes and racing.
Dont get me wrong. This is a great recap. But dont it suck that this is the best we have. What was the point of the e bikes following them if we cant watch any of this.
I agree, it looked like there were tons of cameras, ebikes with cams and competitors with them (realize they aren’t broadcast live but still) very little footi. Dying to see more on the course and how Kegan could win it on a HT. Maybe it was the PB footage but still looked techy enough. Kegan did a good interview with Alexi post race (like 4 hours post!) and was good but his recaps downplay how hard the course really was. BTW is is it just me or did he look skinny, maybe it was the kit but he looked skinnier than leadville and really ever.
Every time I’ve seen him in person, he’s been crazy lean/thin. If anyone needs proof that you don’t need big muscular legs to put out power on the bike, keegan is a great data point. I think his calves might actually be skinnier than mine and my calves are the about size of a baby’s forearms…
