Back in Sweden (after 3 weeks of work in Scotland - don’t worry, I had my bike), I got out for a really nice 2hr ride at LT1 (the top of zone 2).
For me that is about 340w (3.4w/kg), which translates to about 34kph on a road bike on a flattish course in winter. Happy with that, and feel it’s a pace that I could fairly comfortably hold for 4-5hrs.
I have photographic evidence from Wednesday of AT offering an adaptation away from this one. Yet, when I pressed the accept button, it was not replaced. Well, I trusted the system, today rolled around, & I gave it a shot.
Lurking within these cycles of over-unders is a period of 110% for two minutes. A bit cruel. It certainly dispatched any thoughts of yeah-I-got-this that developed over the first three minutes of the intervals spent at 95%. Hung on for dear life in the first two, but couldn’t hold the target in the third so I finished it out at sweetspot.
I’d call it a fail, but I got some good time in zone, all is well, on we go.
Trying to hit my moving power target whilst hitting the gaps between others slowing down (also a moving target) was doing my head in! In the end I just had to miss a few interval power targets by a few watts for the benefit of safety.
Tyrell today…first long ride since coming fully indoors a couple months ago for winter and I really have to train up my sit bones again. Situation was getting dire towards the end despite the power being easy to maintain.
