if roadies have no bike handling skills, what about us triathletes
This is not an unpopular opinion… but FACT!
What about them? Triathletes aren’t cyclists.
And you don’t even wear socks, let alone the correct colour (white in case you need confirmation).
People who use the word fascist.
Perhaps not that unpopular.
- Bikes size 56 and up are ugly AF.
- It’s mostly about W/kg
- Thin arms, flat chest and narrow shoulders are terrible epidemic.
- Guys with bellies give the sport a bad reputation.
- Despise e-Bikes
It’s not lookin’ good for you all on the skills front lol, but you’d kick all of our butts running and swimming and just being more well-rounded, better athletes.
For gravel and mtb; the vast majority of riders are over-biked and over-tired for what they ride regularly and need.
I suspect this applies to roadies as well.
White socks = 15 more watts.
I’m enjoying reading all of these, everyone keep posting.
Mine: If you are a MAMIL with a big belly, you shouldn’t ride a $10k bike. Stick to 105 and a non-aero cockpit to accommodate your lack of flexibility. Screw the whole “If you can afford it, you can ride it” thing that normally applies.
We should aim for “smiles per hour” not “miles per hour”
Get your head in the game. Jeeze
. If those people don’t buy the $10k bikes then the top flight bikes we buy would be rubbish.
My “unpopular opinion”, race wheels are for race day. Unless you’re the pot bellied casual riding all the gears all the time, then you do you
Sorry, no, you’re not a ‘sprinter’.
You just didn’t work as hard as everyone else during the ride before the final city limit sign sprint.
(And don’t think we don’t notice you reshuffle your position at stop signs/lights.)
nah, you’re wrong!
I see soooo many enduro bikes on XC/Trail terrain. It’s the equivalent of driving a jacked up F-350 around the city all the time. Unless you’re an enduro racer or regularly ride black/double black, why would you buy an enduro bike? Also, lugging around a pair of Minion DHF/DHR tires in EXO+ casing at over 1,000g a tire to ride blue trails? A lighter, more nimble bike is faster and more fun. People have bought into the ‘over biking’ thing as a ‘confidence inspiring’ charade.
That not an unpopular opinion, just sound life advice
“Race wheels” means nothing in the day of tubeless tires and disc brakes.
Healthy males age 20-35 can all, genetically, hit 4 w/kg - whatever limits them below that is NOT their genetics but their lifestyle
Here’s a few:
-
Contrary to what the podcasters state, difficult, unstructured rides are great fitness builders. Most of us never get near overtraining volume, and it’s volume over all.
-
Unbound is all about 30s and 1min power repeatability, at least at the pointy end.
-
Z2 fanatics just don’t want to ride hard and they’ve developed the Z2 religion as justification.
