USAC Mountain bike marathon nationals race and fueling

Hello all. I am set to race the USAC mountain bike nationals race Monday the 14th. I have been racing a few years and have done plenty of USAC sanctioned races. However, I’ve not done a sanctioned race that is this long/format (one long loop vs multiple shorter loops), or a nationals/championship level race. I’m mostly curious how the main feed zones work and if anyone has raced this kind of race in the past, maybe provide some insight to help me plan my fueling. I’m curious if the “neutral water” zones on the map are truly a neutral zone and your time stops entering these zones (I dont imagine thats the cause though). I’m assuming these are just area’s where volunteers and/or team assistance CAN provide food/water, but its not quite a guarantee a volunteer will be there to hand me water? I’d like to know if I just need to plan for stopping and filling bottles myself or not.

Your time won’t stop in the neutral feed. I’ve raced USAC Nats in the past - they had a volunteer handing out bottles.

There is a thread somewhere here that has some course insights. Kerry Warner also has some videos out that would be useful.

Wish USAC had this one on a weekend! Mon is unfortunately a no-go for me.

Best of luck!
