I can only assume he is still struggling to get the tire on…this can’t be a good sign!!
Going tubeless makes things so much easier.
Right?
While trying to figure out a trick to get the tire on I saw this on my backup wheel:
Hmm, that just happened in the 3 rides I did this week on the backup wheel.
Clearly my search-fu was weak last night. Ain’t nobody got time to figure out the install trick or email support. Tossed the Tubolight insert into the closet and easily finished the new tubeless tire install before dinner.
Yikes! I’m glad you found that AT HOME instead of on the road. Good catch.
That looks like something you’d find on a fixie.
Sealant would have a problem filling that
On the Wed workout it was getting dark and I hit something during a hard burst in the last set. The wheel skipped and then a mile or two later I found a road closed sign on the frontage road back into town. Over a half mile of pavement what been removed and I got some bonus gravel riding. Think it happened during the wheel skip. And the backup wheels are running tubes.
Quick note; had the time to dismount the rear, ( haven’t had time to ride it yet), and was surprised to see my homemade backer rod had conformed to the channel in the rim. Yea.
My setup is really tight, ( 5000 TL’s on SWISSSIDE rims). I mean like REALLY TIGHT.
Any update on the usage 1 year later?
Keen to try as I have the XC version in my MTB. I can really appreciate the lower pressure but more importantly I noticed less/little air loss in between rides. If this works for the road bike, Ill be a very happy chappy. My RB gets very little usage but I constantly need to pump it up to keep the beads in
Check out Vitoria Air-Liner for a road bike.
My understanding of the Vittoria is that they function like a run-flat instead of rim and bead protection. They shrink when there is high air pressure.
Which wheels and size? Tires? Sealant?
I’ve never had tire bead unseat. Enve 5.6 Disc with a narrow 19mm inner width. Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3V with 25mm inner width. Roval Terra CLX with 25mm inner width. A bunch of road tires from 25c to 32c. Orange Seal.
Yes and I’ve ridden 10 miles home on AirLiner without and damage to carbon rim. It’s a road bike. I’ve run CushCore on wider 35c gravel tires. Don’t need that type of protection on a road bike, on paved roads, in my opinion.
Wheel Energy are the same outfit who did that misleading rolling resistance test that has people arguing that wider = rolls faster and the pros are idiots for not running 45c tyres at Paris-Roubaix… Forgetting the fact that they tested every tyre at the same pressure.
OMG so sorry for late reply. Really didn’t notice this
I WAS using Schwalbe Pro One (prev gen) on a generic hooked 17mm inner carbon wheelset. To be honest, since changing to the new Schwalbe Addix Pro One, have gone 1 whole month with decent amounts of air still in. MucOff Sealants.
