Hi everyone. Apologies if this has been answered already but I could not find it. Does anyone else have issues that TR workouts that are pushed to Wahoo Elemnt lose the step details, eg ramps are converted to flat intervals instead? Attached are some screenshots where you can see the warm up section being impacted. Any solution to this?
I tried adding the same workout to my calendar and switching to outside workout. I get the same thing as you. I believe the removal of ramps is normal behavior to simplify the workout to do on the road.
However was more confused by the apparent change of intensity. The workout should be sweet spot and on the Wahoo the intervals are above threshold. The IF is also 0.82 on TrainerRoad but 0.91 on Wahoo. I tried loading the workout into my Roam and it seems ok. Looks like the IF of the workout on Wahoo is based off just the work intervals and not the entire workout. Might be a glitch on either TrainerRoad’s end or Wahoo’s but it looks like the workout will load on the head unit as intended.
Outside Workouts are sometimes simplified to make them more practical to complete out in the real world. @stickmandj is right about that.
In terms of the mis-matching IF and TSS, it does look like there is a bug that causes this discrepancy between TR and Wahoo, and I’m not 100% sure as to whose side the issue lies.
The good news is that this visual bug won’t affect your actual Outside Workout, so there’s no need to worry about that.
I am curious, though, is your FTP in the Wahoo app set the same as what it is in TR @flppv?
I added the exact same workout to my calendar and made it an outside workout and I got the exact same IF and TSS as the original poster. I looked at the intervals on the head unit as well and they were as intended by TrainerRoad and not as displayed in the Wahoo app which appear as threshold intervals. It looks as if Wahoo is basing IF and TSS off the interval power as opposed to the overall workout. I can also confirm that my FTP is set the same on both Wahoo and TrainerRoad.
I have a different outside workout scheduled for today (Town Hill) and it has the same issue with IF and TSS. TrainerRoad had it as 0.69 IF and 129 TSS but Wahoo Element app has it as 0.78 IF and 166 TSS.
The targets eventually are fine and are as prescribed, but the pre-workout screen is very confusing.
I’m still not happy about the fact that ramps are converted into flat-bar intervals at a too high target power. Do not recall if I had these issues on my Garmin edge previously.
It’s seems like there’s work to be done on the Wahoo connection, eg. we’re still missing the workout description / instruction on the head unit.
