Where in South Dakota? I’m guessing east river?

I’m in Sioux Falls, but this race was near Omaha: https://www.arkfeldacres.com/race-series/

First ride out with this beauty. Just upgraded it to Di2 and went on a short rip to test the hydro lines.

Look 795 RS Disc
Enve SES 5.8 DT 240
Enve SES Aero Bars
S Works Power Saddle
Ultegra R8070
Enve Cages

Looking forward to abusing my fitness with this thing. She’s a bit much for my “use case” (just ripping around) but for the price I got her and the current situation, I feel like I made out like a bandit! Been using her on indoor rides since I got her in the fall… and yeah, she’s a ripper!

Wifey and I are doing the 5-0! And maybe some casual trips between now and then.

Only change for this year is the XR3 in the back to pair with the XR4 in the front. Otherwise this is a bit of a mix, 2021 FUEL EX 9.9 frame and shock, paired with a Fox 34 51mm (vs the manufacture spec fox 36 44mm), X01 AXS and Reverb AXS. Tires are also 2.4” front and rear instead of 2.6 like the 2021 come with

I got an email from my bike shop yesterday. (Pedals are not mine and bartape is missing.)

It’s got a hidden team tattoo. See if you can spot it.

This beauty of a bike is a 3T Strada with a custom paint job. I picked a nice yellow (inspired by Porsche Carrera gelb) and naked carbon that has just been clear coated. I ordered it in January, but as everything is backordered in the bike industry, it took a while until all the parts arrived.

This bike is mostly just 3T and SRAM parts:

  • 3T C45 Discus wheels
  • 3T carbon stem and carbon handle bars
  • SRAM Force eTap AXS with a WIDE rear derailleur and a 10-36 cassette
  • SRAM Force eTap AXS crank (I originally wanted a Red crank, but I would have had to wait until June at least)
  • Quark DZero power meter
  • tires set up tubeless
  • the saddle isn’t final yet, I might either use my current saddle or get a new one

Yellow bikes FTW, everyone who wins the TDF seems to ride one so it must be faster

2016 Emonda SL6
Full Shimano R8050 Di2
Bontrager Aeolus 5 wheels
Bontrager XXX integrated bar and stem
Bontrager Montrose PRO saddle
Favero Assioma Duo
Conti GP5000 with Latex tubes
Bontrager XXX cages (replicas because $80 for bottle cages is an actual crime)

Worth emphasizing! Nice bike!

So a little update here… Never really felt at home on the 3T due to the fact that there is no setback seat post… So for me it felt like I was pedalling backwards.

So with that in mind, I went and got a Diverge instead, and moved over the Di2 from the 3T to the Diverge.

First bike I built up on my own as well  Ready to ride weight of 9,3kg with pedals, computer mount, bottle cages etc.

Some small comment on the ride on the Diverge vs the 3T RaceMax:

  • Diverge feels much more planted and stable
  • Diverge is a thousand times more comfortable on gravel and bumpy terrain
  • 3T feels a bit faster on tarmac
  • Futureshock is perfect for gravel - taking away the sting
  • Diverge in-frame storage box is THE BEST, man is it nice to have all the shit you need to bring on gravel rides in the frame, low low center of gravity, and then just have food in your pockets

I’ve got a 2018 black diverge and use it for road as well. Very nice bike.

Was scrolling through Strava old rides and found pictures of the 2015 FUEL EX. Looks so different compared to my 2018 and 2021

2015

2018

2021

The 2015 looks like a straight up XC bike (granted it was a 17.5” frame vs the 18/21 being an 18.5” but crazy to see how much the bike has evolved over the last few generations. Makes me want to find my old one and ride it

Main Bike

Wheels are worth more than the frame, but I still like it. At 198cm tall it’s hard to find a bike to fit me properly, so I’ll work with what I’ve got.

Mountain Bike

Definite “not much, but it’s mine” scenario. I love riding it though, that’s the main thing.

Commuter

Built when refusing to believe I’m in my mid 30’s. Good fun, slightly less slack chain now (those dropouts aren’t great for a fixie conversion)

New bike day earlier this week. Posted in Grizl three but figure I’d drop it here too. This is my n=1 bike to do it all. Now just need to get a set of road wheels.

Oh wait, the crank arm is in the wrong position. Sorry, not super nice
