Let’s see in general what works for people. I’m just throwing some stuff out there but we get an idea of where people might like to race, I’d be happy to try and schedule something a bit more specific. I’m also more than happy to be the sacrificial lamb and pull somebody to glory. Every good team needs an 80+ kilo train engine
It’s probably a bit late to post this, but I’m planning to ride Four Horsemen starting at about 6:00 (PT) tomorrow morning. Believe that’s 1300 GMT. Math.
Anyway, I’ll be running Allegheny in parallel so anticipate around a 3h30m completion time and ~2.7W/kg pacing.
Reply here or PM if you’re interested in joining. I’ll check in before starting. Zwift: Kurt Braeckel (TR).
Hey the good thing about Zwift is that those 15 kilos can be just between yourself and the quarantine. No one else has to know it ever happened as long as you lose them by the next time they see you!
So I have a random, annoying, question about Zwift. I run Zwift full screened on a windows laptop to a second monitor mounted on the wall. Occasionally Zwift will load onto the laptop screen instead of my second monitor and I can’t figure out how to move the Zwift window to my second monitor when that happens. I can’t just window Zwift since it has to restart to make the change.
Been there and I got around this by doing windowed and then making it full screen. Much easier and takes a few seconds to expand it instead of dealing with what you are.
Any races I’m going in for I will put an event up on the Google calendar, hopefully it will be visible for all see and give a bit of advance notice to others that may be interested.
Be doing some of the Duathlons as well .
As said by @ericallenboyd but in a little more detail, in Zwift settings there is the option to have it on full screened or window mode. Have it in windows mode and you can move it around like any other window and maximise it when it’s on the correct screen. You do get a border that way. There was I believe some Zwift tools by third parties that allow it to always open in the chosen screen in chosen size. I’m always wary of using third party tools/tweaks and have stuck to windowed mode.
Thanks, ya this is what I was hoping to avoid and why I have it set to full screen I stead of window. The bar at the top kinda bugged me. Oh well! Guess I’ll just have to deal with it. Thanks to you as well @ericallenboyd.
Not sure if you’ve tried this but when the Zwift splash screen loads, I found I had to move this splash screen to the window of choice before pressing ‘let’s go’ I’m sure it then opens in the said screen in full mode. Its been a while since I’ve bothered with two screens since I got the projector.
Ya I always move the splash page to the screen I want but for some reason it will still randomly switch to the laptop screen so I have no clue what the deal is.
Not one to brag but I bagged my first KOM jersey up the watopia KOM, while repping the TR name tag today. It must have been a quiet day but I’ll take it
How do you recommend working in virtual races with a mid / high volume plan?
I finished a long block of Sweet Spot Base training and am in the rest week. Since my sprint power is poor (um, non-existent) and I’ve never really worked it before, I plan to do Short Power Build next. I’ll follow the high volume plan but will have to truncate the endurance portions of the longer workouts during the week to get to work on time.
For various reasons the intensity days will be Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday (i.e. default plan). Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are for weight lifting and the prescribed recovery rides (maybe shortened a little due to work). This fills ups the week.
I tend toward longer events such as centuries and Fondos, so it was easy to plan training blocks to coincide with one of those events. I don’t have any experience scheduling in a recurring weekly race into a structured training plan in a way that doesn’t sacrifice the quality of the following hard workout.
