TrainerRoad - Feature Requests of what athletes expect / want in the future

Yeah, I did that, it’s sort of messy, I can do it, I’d just like (as a feature request) a button to do it instead.

Love the app. The new AI is a noticeable improvement in selecting workouts. The AI FTP Prediction provides more immediate feedback, which is also great.

However, I think the app is too FTP centric. I understand why it is. It would be great if the app would include other measures of fitness. E.g., an estimate for V02 and perhaps ‘durability’ related metrics related to fatigue.

In a recent podcast, Jonathan talked about ignoring his FTP in prep for Leadville. That makes total sense and I agree with that viewpoint. BUT the advice does not align with the FTP centric nature of the app.

Thanks for listening!

I was hoping that TR could add support for Saturday App integration like it has in Training Peaks and soon to be Intervals.icu

This would be a nice addition for fueling of rides.

This would definitely be nice! As a user of the Saturday app myself, I find myself temporarily building my workout out in TP so it shows up in Saturday app to suggest fueling. It would be sweet to cutout this middleman, especially considering it is currently my ONLY use for TP these days!

I’m a tiny bit annoyed by the AI when it changes the planned workout in the last minute (almost). For example, in my case, going from Trunchas to Tallac today. I’d like to know the reasoning behind the change.

In light of the new forum guidelines, would it be possible to add an option to hide the map for outdoor activities? I’m sure a lot of people would feel more comfortable making their calendars public when asking for help if they could do it while keeping maps/location data private.

I’d actually like to see a setting where I can choose what default image comes up on the calendar. Could even have different defaults based upon indoor and outdoor rides. I tend to mostly do structured workouts so the workout image is more meaningful than the map. Specially if that map is of Zwift….lol

agreed. my hours are all over the place and no 2 weeks looks alike.

I’d like the Mac app to show the target power (in watts) for the upcoming intervals, similar to the mobile app. It would be really helpful to be able to see the next interval’s prescribed power at a glance.

I’d love to be able to upload a upcoming race to the TR calendar, and then have the AI suggest power targets for appropriate for the section of track.

I think this already happens. It warms you about the need for easy days.

Yes, you’re right. I posted that before I the latest AIFTP release. This was part of that release and it’s nice to see!

Has anyone noticed that you can’t really extend the warmup of the Saddleback workout? I was hoping to take the warmup a little easier, but extending it by a minute just gave me an extra minute at 74%, the power setting of the rest of the workout. It seems like there should be a way to extend the warmup so that you don’t have to start grinding right away. Saddleback is the only workout where I’ve wanted to extend the warmup.

I would love to be able to filter the workout library by expected failure rate.

Not sure if this has been raised already, but I feel like there could be major improvements to the Alternates for the AI workouts. I can almost never find a suitable alternative using that functionality and instead have to go search. As an example - if I get an endurance workout that has an IF of .69, and choose “easier” I almost always see things that are far lower, like .55 or less, whereas I was just hoping to get under .65.

Take Pioneer -3. 60 minutes, IF .69

If I look at “similar” they are all .67 or higher

If I click “easier” they are all .55 or lower.

Why not something in the middle? There are plenty in the library, it’s just not recommending them as alternates.

All roads lead to…
I’d get on board with this. I’ve seen this happen too. It feels like the ML sometimes doesn’t know where to look. In this instance it’s well below.
I know WLs are a blunt instrument in comparison to ML simulations, but in this instance it could use that to get a ballpark estimate then simulate the difficulty on those to refine, rather than simulating the entire workout library at that duration.
Or… have a “more” button at the bottom of the list that just exposes the whole list, orded by WL.

Good idea. It’s not perfect, but I’d be more than happy just to get the simple “more button” solution.

+1 for this please? :folded_hands: Or the ability to set/recall a restore point? I feel this could be beneficial for changes to the plan too. I tinkered with my plan last week & it converted my last loading week before my A event into a recovery week with only two loading weeks beforehand. I’m on a building endurance plan which is not event-centric, but it seemed odd.

Yes, having a screen where we can fiddle with the plan, see the preview next to our current plan, and then either discard or save the changes would be ideal.

For something like that, I think it would be necessary to limit it to the desktop website due to screen real estate needed. Which is fine, since it’s a advanced feature and should be done rarely and when I have some time, not minutes before my workout.

Not just a race, but any activity. The group and solo rides are a first step, but it would be cool if you could add historical rides to your calendar.
