TR workout is Anaerobic, Garmin say Anaerobic

I just completed the Blue Eagle on TR which shoes Anaerobic but on GC, it’s logged as Aerobic.

Which one is correct?

Anaerobic or Anaerobic?

It’s Anaerobic :+1:

Weird thing is GARMIN is treating it as Tempo Aerobic.

Looks anaerobic to me.

They are both correct. TR is giving you a workout in the Anaerobic Power Zone (intervals over 120% FTP). Garmin is looking at your heart rate contribution to the workout. I’m guessing you didn’t spend enough time above VO2 for Garmin to call it Anaerobic. Click on the Garmin “Stats” tab and have a look at the “Training Effect”.

My guess is that Garmin is taking the overall average or a weighted average while TR focuses on the intervals.

I agree!!!

Tempo High Aerobic

You want to look at this part. That will explain why Garmin rated it that way.

Much different than TR

One is power and the other is HR

And who knows if his FTP is accurate or if his HR settings in the Garmin are accurate.

It’s certainly meant to be an anaerobic workout - if you are concerned about Garmin and TR displaying the same categorisation then it’s important that heart rate and power zones are consistent.

How do I know?

How did you set FTP? How did you set your max heart rate in your Garmin?

I did the ramp test and then put it in my cycling profile in GC. Trainerroad adjusted it for me.

Hey @roc585146

As some have pointed out already, TrainerRoad is correct for training stress and intended energy-system focus for this workout, while Garmin Connect is classifying the workout based on your heart-rate data, so it may not match what the workout is actually designed to train.

As far as your FTP goes, do you have the same FTP set for Garmin and TrainerRoad? It is not clear from your last message

I loaded Garmin with the TR FTP so they are the same.

Why are you looking at anything other than TR.
