TR asked if I’m going to do todays workout

Just finished an outdoor ride. Did not load today’s workout on my Garmin . After the ride synced with TR I was asked if I planed on doing today’s scheduled inside workout.

Is this new?

This feature is very annoying for someone who commutes to and from work then does the planned workout in the afternoon. Feel free to merge these posts: New prompt: "Upcoming Workout - Do you still plan to do this workout today?"

You can schedule a rough time you’re planning to do the workout. I suspect that might stop the question for you.

It does, I mentioned that in my linked post. However, having these as recurring workouts in my plan (and the needing to change them if my work is adjusted) is a lot of clutter and a pain to manage.

TR is supposed to be making our training easier and taking stress OUT of our lives, not adding to it.

As someone who commutes to and from work before doing my planned workout, this message is so annoying.

I can probably get around it by adding the 2 x 10-min commutes as planned rides and setting the time of day, but I don’t want the clutter in my plan.

Why can’t the system be smart enough to realise a 10 min commute is nothing like my planned workout and just not associate it? If I wanted to associate something myself, I would go in and do it anyway.

Having this prompt twice every Monday is something I don’t need to start my week with :slight_smile:

Yeah. This popup needs to go. It’s on the calendar. I’m going to do it. Also, what if I plan on changing the workout? There’s no option for that. Let me see my account and make changes without agreeing or disagreeing.

What is the rationale for asking? How would the answer affect things? So far, if I’m not gonna do a planned workout, I just don’t do it and the next day it’s grayed out on my calendar. What would change if I answered that question with a no?

It moves up the effect of not doing the workout from midnight to whenever you clicked that you weren’t going to do it.

The reason for this feature is that what we have on your calendar can dramatically affect your upcoming workouts and your predicted FTP. This can create confusion when athletes add extra rides/commutes, as sometimes they still plan to do their scheduled workout, and sometimes they don’t.

We’ve seen quite a bit of confusion in cases where athletes will go ride outside and disregard their planned workout for the day. For the rest of the day, that planned workout is still on their calendar, potentially causing them to go red the next day, changing their predicted FTP, and/or altering their next days’ workouts. When the athlete checks the calendar the next day and things are suddenly different, it seems like something is wrong.

Think of this feature like a coach checking in with you. “I noticed you already rode today. Are you still going to do the workout I had scheduled for you, or no?” By answering, you allow us to give you a more accurate prediction of what’s coming next in your training and for your fitness.

An alternative would be an “I’m not going to do this workout” toggle. That way it’s something the athlete can choose to apply (or not) proactively.

A further benefit would be that this would be brilliant for sandboxing. Throw two alternative workouts on the calendar on the same day and use the toggles to assess the impact of each.

OK. My approach when concerned about it was to delete the scheduled workout rather than let it expire at the end of the day. I figured if I left it on the schedule it would affect things until I either deleted it or let it expire. Is there any ultimate difference between selecting NO, deleting the workout, or letting it expire at the end of the day?

I don’t see it this way at all. If you are an athlete who does follow the plan, but also adds additional workouts/activities, confirming you still plan to do the workout allows us to optimize it and better plan going forward. But this feedback is helpful, and I’m glad you shared it.

Nope, no difference. If you don’t do a workout, once tomorrow arrives that workout is viewed as skipped and we adjust. Telling us “no, I don’t plan to do the workout” lets us move that forward and mark it skipped immediately, so you don’t see that interim period of workouts that might change on your calendar. Deleting the workout would have the same effect.
