LOL. The HV plan has Wilhelm +5 in week 1.
Yep, I ended up swapping from Sustained Power Build back to a Tri plan. Doing SPB with the added running ended up running me into the ground.
Might be ok if you’re a pure cyclist
Pools are open! I’ve went for a dip twice and must say it wasn’t all that bad. Kept distance low and only did 100s, but considering I did not swim for four months I am relieved. Gdynia still isn’t cancelled, so there is hope I could survive that race.
By now I would rather start doing other non-race action but I guess unless there is official word from the organizers I have to stick with my plan. Does anyone know of any race before mid of august to take place?
In the US they are racing next week…70.3 Lubbock.
Its hard not to get political on this subject, so Ill just say that I think Ironman will follow whatever the local governmemt want and make no decision themselves.
If your pools are open, then theres a chance.

I had a leek in my pool
Devastating
And it was a pain to find and fix ![]()
PS - leek = leak
could you just take the leek out? shouldn’t it be easy to spot and how is the leek broken?
You’re welcome. I’ll see myself out.
For this week’s running, I ran more this week than I have in the previous 3 or so months combined. Yes, that’s right, over the three instances of running this week, I crossed over the 7 mile mark! ![]()
For this week’s swimming, I swam 1km more this week, in a single instance, than I have in the past five months combined. Yup, I did a 1k “workout” in the pool. ![]()
And yes, the gravel bike is in the shop since Monday pending the replacement of a power meter and the weather is crap so road riding is out. So, I’ve jumped on the rollers for TR and added running and swimming. CTL just dropped below 100 and my Garmin nows says I’m “detraining”
but I’ll be on the turbo later today and on the road this weekend when the weather is supposed to get closer to not-spring. Not willing nor interested in getting on the tri bike just yet.
Fortunately, we have a good outdoor 50m tank here. They removed every other lane line to apparently create wide lanes but circle swimming around the black stripe wasn’t replaced with down the right of one line and up the right of the other line. I don’t know the logic and the pool was empty when I went. I haven’t gone to the indoor 25m to see what’s up there.

when I first read this, I read it as you took a leak (pee) in your pool

Anyone else racing IMVR12 this weekend?
The Rouvy course is 70.3 Kona, I was always planning to do this, but the course makes it even more appealing.
My right calf is still tight from pulling it a couple of weeks ago, but Im still hoping to push the boundaries a little and up my 70.3 bike effort to 210-220W, and if the legs are working I should be able to pace 6min/km without dying.
Otherwise it’ll be run/walk to reduce the risk of injury.![]()
Got on the trainer yesterday as my symptoms while hanging around the house have pretty much gone away. Walks still kick my butt after 10min but I thought I’d see what I could do.
5min, avg power of 54W and NP of 63W. There was one little “hill” on Zwift that got me up to 120W for a couple seconds. It kind of kicked my butt.
I used to be in the camp of “get the virus now while all races are cancelled/postponed” so that we can build back up and be ready next season. But I’m 14 days from my first symptoms, I had it REALLY mild, and I’m afraid this is going to be a long hill to climb. I’m now in the camp of “do everything you can to avoid the virus until a vaccine” to hopefully preserve your base. CTL is already down to 66 from a high of 95 and that drop isn’t going to drop anytime soon.
Yep, too many people I know think theres nothing to worry about.
The friend I told you about iirc her first symptoms were beginning of March, she managed her first 10k on the last day of May, shes back training most days now but still at a cautious intensity.
Itll take time but youll be back
.
Well I just received news from the organizers that Gdynia will be postponed… for 5 weeks. Plenty of options for deferring to next year or other races, but I think I might just stick with the new date. Canceling and rebooking my airbnb was straightforward and saved me a few bucks on the new date and it gives me another 5 weeks of swimming. I’ll probably also take another week or two of unstructured fooling around to regain some sanity and figure out my running. Somehow I am still 10 - 15 seconds off pace even though I am following exactly the same plan as half a year ago. Might be the higher temperatures in training, or the lack of swimming, or a bit of both or something else entirely.
If anyone’s still looking for a race in Europe, they are offering deferrals to Lahti, Tallinn, Luxembourg and Turkey. Or you could join me in Gdynia as long as you don’t take away a WC slot in M35 ![]()
Good to hear you are on the upswing. Take care!
In a way it’s almost a blessing because of the uphill downhill nature of the course, you get to walk half the run course without too much guilt.
Anyone signed up for outlaw x, someone posted on line that they’d had an email from osb saying that they expected it to be on.
Glad you’re on the bike. You’ll be rocking it in a few weeks. Just recover till then.
Just finished IMVR 12, I didnt space the legs out over twelve hours or three days, so I got the “real” 70.3 experience…suffering! ![]()
Yeah, a 5k run, 90km+700m bike, 21km run “brick session” at the end of SPB Week 1.
Not my greatest idea
But Im
Enjoying a beer to celebrate, for tomorrow We Rest.
Enjoy that rest day! An internet friend also signed up for VR12 and her coach persuaded her to spread it out and start with the HM - AFTER she had completed it, she realised she had done it too early for it to count. Whoops.
My bike got a post-crash thorough going over today. Major damage appears to have been avoided. One wheel is a bit scratched up at the edge of the brake track but the frame & fork are sound. Phew. Decent helmets are on back order so no new helmet yet and I’m not quite ready to wear my aero lid for a local pootle.
Stitches are out and I am mostly healed up. Yesterday was the first day where I probably felt myself again. I thought I’d been there since last weekend but in retrospect I really hadn’t.
I put in plan builder with low volume and no event to take me up to mid-December and am going to give what it spat out (10 weeks of SSB, general build, rolling road race) a go. Keeping running easy for now. It’s crazy hot here (current feels like of 38C) so even that feels like a challenge. Not sure I’d know how to swim even if the pools were open.
