But the SL9 is their out and out race bike, it’s the equivalent of the Aeroad in the Canyon lineup, not the Endurace. If you want a Specialized with more tire clearance you can get a Roubaix, or an Aethos, or even a Crux.
Just for context, despite the name the new Endurace CFR has an aggressive geometry (only the top-end version) essentially identical to an Aeroad. The Escape Collective covered it e. g. on their podcast.

I have an old Tarmac SL 7. Possibly the best bike Ive riden in 40 years. Now, I’ve not had the opportunity to ride any anything newer in last couple years, but the the SL9 looks like a contender.
I have a 2019 Venge and an SL8. I’ve been very happy with both but I never liked the profile of the SL8. I think that the Venge and SL9 are much better looking. I never liked the look of the backwards dish at the top of the fork on the SL8.
I don’t think that there is the slightest chance that I would notice a difference riding the SL8 vs SL9 and I can’t afford an upgrade right now…but I want the SL9 purely for the improved looks.

Boring, but probably still a great bike. The only thing that is underwhelming is the very limited tire clearance for an allround bike.
Yeah. I think if I was bound and determined to buy a new S works bike. I would spend the extra 500 bucks and get the SL9. Its a great bike it seems.
Honestly I still think 32mm of clearance is plenty for a race bike. Its not an allrounder. Its a race machine. 32 is fine. I think we cant really go wider until other things change.
Its nice they are specking a 50t not a 48. I cant stand when companys sell race bikes with compact gearing.

A Specialized guy attended a big local group ride last weekend with an SL9. It was the one with the more shiny paint compared to the other tarmacs, otherwise impossible to tell the difference. I don’t really follow the road bikes much these days, honestly couldn’t tell the difference between the sl7, 8, or 9 if my life depended on it.
I think it’s pretty easy to tell them apart. Just look at the seat tube. New one curves around the wheel.
Or the hanger. The new one is UDH

I thought so too. But recently I have been looking back at my stuff. I spend a lot of time at 45 to 50k an hour. So idk
45 mph = 72.4kph 
Maybe they had to phrase it that way because at lower speeds it is actually slower?
