omg. 235km in a day. how long would it take? 10 hours?

i was looking at the spring edition but then you have to worry about rain and the cold

thanks! i hope my preparation for the past 6 months is enough for me to make the time cut and not board the broom wagon!

If you finished under 10 hours you got special jersey however the cutover time is 13 hours, elevation is the killer here since it is 4000 + meters

Rain is a problem for sure, the cold bothers me much less.

the distance itself is quite the challenge.

I’m going for the Oct KOM. Still training for it. Hope I meet the cut

A couple weekends to go before the summer KOM.
Hope your preparations have been going well! :facepunch::fist:

have u done the race before? i understand you have to show you can complete it within 6.5hrs or something.

not great. went for an outdoor ride this morning and my pal crashed into me. my bike is out of action and luckily i only suffered some road rash. now i have no idea what i should do next.

@rogerchua

If you complete the June KOM within 7.5hr, you qualify for the main event in October. Otherwise, the only requirement is that you be 16yrs old and able to complete the ride in 9hrs. I seriously doubt you have to show any type of proof.

Road rash is better than some of the alternatives. As for your bike, get it fixed? borrow a bike? maybe borrow the bike of the friend who crashed you?

ok. i just want to complete this coming KOM within the time cut. if i make it within 6 hours, will be a big plus for me.

luckily i was already slowing down to a stop at the lights when he smacked into me.

going to check out bike repairs next week. probably wont be in time because i am leaving next week.

the guy who crashed me is riding a really crappy $200 bike and luckily i got myself a new bike 1 month ago for my birthday.

this is why you don’t look at the front rider’s rear wheel when you are drafting. he didn’t even know i was slowing down for an oncoming car.

Wow! I didn’t see the pic before. That doesn’t look repairable, which really sucks! I’m hoping you were able to get sorted and are able to ride this weekend.

In Hualien now. Weather is hot and dry. Went for a training ride and got sunburnt. Hahaha.

Anyone else here for the summer challenge?

Yup… Oct KOM is 6.5hrs.

Nope I didn’t do taiwan KOM before but I do love some climbs. Do some serious training and get myself to meet the cut off time… hopefully :grimacing:

@rogerchua @sairusi

After a quick look at the weather forecast, I would plan for cold and wet at some point during the ride. Man weather changes fast, so it might clear up and be dry all the way up. But I’d have arm warmers and a lightweight wind jacket or rain jacket.

Have a great ride tomorrow!

I am thinking whether to bring a light rain jacket or not. Already overloaded with nutrition for the six to seven ride. And it has been super warm in the town for the past three days.

I will get a light rain jacket for Oct since I don’t handle cold very well. 6 gels should be more than sufficient.

Update from the challenge. Couldn’t make it before the last checkpoint. Too much time wasted at the start and checkpoints ran out of water.
