Does @Jonathan know anyone involved in TT100 to get the scoop on the demise of TT100? Permitting issues, financial challenges, fatigue of organizing a race for 10+ years? Essentially looking to understand if it’s likely someone else will fill the gap, or if the issues are universal (like Forest Service permits), and the gap will be around for a while.
Entered a 50k local race, and will enter some of the 20k local series races closer to each race when I know if I can make it or not on a particular weekend.

aka a very small group of people with enough money to buy a very large megaphone to make them seem like a bigger group that’s highly impacted by a one day race.
We seem to think cycling is expensive, being an equestrian is a level or ten above next level.
I am closer to the other end of the Tevis Cup / Western States course, and there’s been reports here and there of equestrians also trying to tell cyclists that they’re not allowed on the trail, even though the are (bikes aren’t allowed in the Granite Chiefs Wilderness and one other short bit at the end, but the vast majority of the WSER course is open to bikes).
@Repack_Racing if you end up wanting to put on a 2027 event at Tahoe, and need a letter writing campaign to get Forest Service permitting, just let us know 
Tahoe is really an amazing spot. And large lap xc and xcm type riding is a great way to enjoy it. And like many of these “crowded” places, once you’re 1/2 a mile from the road/trailhead, they’re very empty.
The Mammoth race looks like a great event, with 2x10 mile lap on the ski resort for most people and 3x10 mile for the expert.

Looks like there’s an event announced at Tahoe to replace TT100. Same weekend, different start/finish and different trail.
I’m really surprised the Big Blue course is climbing Upper Big Chief and not staying on the 06 up to the Fiberboard. It is generally discouraged to climb that way and if they don’t close it to downhill traffic it could be dangerous. If you go preride UBC have your eyes up and ears open because people haul a** down it.
I rode down UBC today and briefly chatted with some people that had ridden Lower Big Chief and said there are a ton of trees down currently. Also, the whole area around and including LBC is closed this summer for logging (fire prevention) so I don’t know how they’re planning to race on it. I’m assuming they will change the course in the coming weeks.
I just rode the course today, and the forest thinning project about halfway down lower big chief turned me around. There were several down trees leading up to that as well, so it looks like not much work has been done to the trail this year.
The bigger surprise was the climb on upper big chief. I had to stop and dismount about a dozen times. Many of the features I consider unridable uphill. I didn’t even try to ride the final section, just rode the fire road around at all and shook my head, wondering why anyone would choose to route a cross-country racecourse up a downhill trail.
Here’s a few pics I took, but the photos do make them look smaller. Each of these pics have a vertical 2’ rock face.
They’ve updated the Strava course on their website. It now shows as going down Big Chief to the end, then up the 06 and up OTB, which is much more reasonable. I’d still like to know how they’re going to deal with the logging on Lower Big Chief and the 06.
edit: it also looks like there’s some random trails at the end of Big Chief before getting back on the 06.
edit 2: on the website linked above there’s a link to Forest Project Update that says they can proceed under their special use permit.
That’s great news. I should’ve checked before heading out.
The 06 road was in decent shape, just lots of heavy equipment in the area.
