I have had them pretty much from when they were introduced. I have kept them attached since first try. I think they are doing the job nicely without added footprint around the trainer. I do not think there is another aftermarket solution that does do the same.
For Swift racing etc i would not keep them due the sprinting issues. But for going through the TR workouts they works just fine and perhaps making indoor riding a bit more comfortable.
