Sync running/swim activities to calendar

I cannot speak for @Nate_Pearson and team but I suspect this is in the pipeline but more than likely mid next year at the earliest. Of course this is just a guess.

I am hoping earlier but the updates in the last year have been pretty solid in my opinion. This would be icing on the cake along with other stuff we don’t know about.

I’m guessing their aim is to have it as big new feature to go along time Nate, Chad and Jonathan triathlon attempts

Great way to roll out, alpha test the features and squash some bugs interally (almost UAT style) before rolling it out

Hey @Nate_Pearson, for now, if I manually add runs and swims as in the Triathlon plans, will they be duplicated once the system back fills my runs and swims? if you need a beta tester, hit me up, happy to beta test…

They will not be duplicate. We thought of that and that’s why we had the “run” and “swim” categories so that we could auto match them in the future.

That was the very question that was on my mind as I read this thread. Thanks for asking it (and @Nate_Pearson for answering it).

Likewise happy to beta test…

@Nate_Pearson

Just following up on this… used TR for the first time this year to train for a 70.3, just using the bike workouts (and used Matt Fitzgerald’s 80/20 running/swimming workouts).

I want to use the whole TR Olympic Triathlon plan for this coming season - but it really sucks that the mobile app doesn’t just easily show what run/swim workout I need to do. It’s quite a faff to have to open up the web interface, especially if my phone hasn’t kept me logged in.

I appreciate that you are primarily focused on cycling, but even just having the ability to read the workout text from within the mobile app would go a long way to making it a rounded training offering for triathletes.

Cheers

that’s actually a very valid point. The app should have that, i mean …it’s just loading text technically.

One slight workaround is to sync your calendar to your mobile device’s calendar. When it does that it does pull down all the workout text. I actually find having the calendar sync to be more efficient as it is one of the fastest and most accessible apps on my device.

We are waiting for the release of an updated mobile app. If it parallels the updated desktop app, the Calendar section may (might/hopefully?) will include the Swim and Run workouts.

We should have the planned swim and run workouts in the mobile app pretty “soon”. It’s being worked on right now and will be part of the big update of our mobile app.

Great

I just introduced a friend of mine to TR who is a GB triathlete and as she hasn’t yet enjoyed the value of the whole training programme, this is one of those very obvious fixes that just sticks out like a sore thumb right now.

Hi everyone! What’s the status now of getting the runs/swims into TR?
Maybe a naive question, but wouldn’t it at least make sense to just import the runs from e.g. Strava to update the training load?

We have no updates to report on Run/Swim support at this time :pensive:. We are still backfilling user’s runs and swims in the background so that the data is ready when the time comes, but we have not scheduled development for this feature at the moment.

It is important to us that we remain focused and perfect one sport (cycling) before we roll out support for multisport, which brings with it another layer of complexity. We appreciate your patience while we constantly work to improve what our app has to offer.

Thanks for the update, I really appreciate the direct contact!

To me, the cycling part already seems pretty perfect :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks for all the development effort, I’ll be curious where we are in a while. Have a great Christmas!

I’m not sure how I missed this post but I may need to give you a virtual hug.

How did you do that?

It’s been a while so I can’t exactly recall. On an iPhone I believe you just go to your calendar app. At the bottom of the screen there is a button for ‘Calendars’. Press that and you have the option to subscribe to your TrainerRoad calendar by selecting the radar/circle button. Hey presto, all workouts should sync across. The notes section contain the notes from the workout which is excellent.

For me I first auto-sync my TR workout out to the Google Calendar and read script there.

While I’m sure the cycling training can get even better, it’s pretty good already… but not even being able to IMPORT runs and swims is a glaring hole in the service’s capability. IMHO getting at least basic functionality on this front should be a higher priority than it appears to be.
