Nearly off the bike for the women. I’m picking that there won’t be much between then on the run - maybe Kat to outrun Nicola. Sub 2:45 would be impressive after a ride that fast although Kat was predicting 2:40.
Hard to know just how much that ride will have taken out of them.
I think we’ll see them both just over 2:40, but I’d be more confident if someone would look at their watts and normal race watts…
If the commentators were right about the pace, Spirig ran the first few km at 2:32 marathon pace…
Same qualification that we’ve no idea of the effort on the bike but I reckon Blu outruns Joe by 10 minutes. 2:25 v 2:35? Seems mighty quick to me
Well… Sub 7?
More like sub 6.30!
Unless they have massive breakdown, which could happen, they are on pace for a damn.
Like many predicted, the bike drafting was the biggest contribution… They all saved about 20 to 30 of their predicted times
Stats are all available online, google data site live apparently but I don’t have a link
Bike Crash!
…on the run!
Matthews picking things up, and Nicola has slowed a little from the first few km but still looking good. Think it’s going to be a close finish!
Blummenfeldt absolutely chewing up that gap. Aaaand everyone looks like they’re on a nice social jog so far
Yup. They all seem to be running ‘normal’ IM times that they would expect to run so far rather than anything quicker. Everything so far has been a warm up for the second half of the run and the actual racing is just about to start
And the junkyard dog returned as Blu passes Skipper
A bit more muted though…
It’s looking pretty good for Spirig.

About 450 - 470w efforts when on the front.
Oof
10 or so turns on the front by the look of it.
It’s not over yet!
Wow! Kat is back.
Serious effort that, Bigham was alot less power #aerogainz
Spirig is an awesome athlete but IM is a different beast…
Looking forward to the sprint finish!
